Bridal Gown for under $1000.

Does anyone know where I can get legitimate bridal gowns for under $1000. I've found some online places but I'm not sure if there legit. Like, foryoudress.com and julie bridal shop, etc. Any help?

Re: Bridal Gown for under $1000.

  • Go to an outlet. My gown was marked down to 600 at one and had never been worn. It also just happened to fit like a glove so I didn't need any alterations. (pics in my profile so you can tell it's a "legit" gown ;)
Also, you can keep an eye on your local craigslist.
    Also,
    Nordstrom
    Jcrew
    Ann Taylor

All have LOVELY gowns in a reasonable price range :)
  • I would be wary of purchasing any online!

Check boutiques for clearance of discontinued samples. I found my dress for $500 marked down from over $1300. You'll have to check the condition, but mine was in great shape, and the owner of the store marked it down further because there are a few very minor, pretty much negligible, fixes to be made (button that fell off, which she had,and a few loose threads).

I have also seen ones on etsy, but am not brave enough to buy a dress without trying it on first.

  • You can always check places like department stores.  Or David's Bridal has many gowns that are under 1,000.  I got mine from there and it was 600.
  • I got mine from a bridal shop that sells WTOO by Watters. It was $800 before taxes and alterations.

Haha, me too.  My dress is a WToo and it was $800.

$1000 is not a ridiculously low budget.  You should be able to find plenty of options in that range in local bridal shops.
  • I second going to boutiques and asking about discontinued samples. I've been searching locally and I found one place that has literally hundreds of dresses 50% off or more, and since I wear a bridal size 8 a great deal of them are in my size. I went to another shop where they only had a few in my size/budget, but one of them was beautiful and I almost bought it. It takes more effort but you never know what you'll find!  I went to David's Bridal too since I am on a budget, but once I had been trying on higher-end designer dresses I couldn't hack the quality of the DB dresses in my budget. Another suggestion may be to go to a bridal shop and try on some dresses from different designers, then see if you can find a used one online at preownedweddingfresses, oncewed or recycledbride.

  • Wow thanks guys. I'll try my search again. The problem is I fell in love with 2 dresses Allure 8822 and Maggie Sottero - Virginia. I love bling and details. I went to David bridals but I didn't like any of the dresses they had in my budget. But I'll keep searching.
  • Look for boutiques that carry Casablanca or Allure dresses.  Both my choices are these brands and both less than $1000.  (note:  Casablanca will do orders so that you don't have to have a ton of alterations done, so that saves money)

  • You can always ADD bling to your gown.. I bought a sparkly sash to bling up mine. :o
  • Also, look at a Macy's Bridal salon.  They have Dimetrios bridal gowns, but they frequently have trunk shows and you can save 15%.  Look for trunk shows sales in general, especially for Allure and Maggie brands.
  • I am also looking for a nice dress with that kind of budget.  I'm in Chicago, which store did you find that had discounted designer dresses?  Thanks so much!

Meld- it looks like you are close to NYC? I just bought a dress yesterday at RK Bridal in NYC.. ( I had put down a dep on another dress in a different shop, changed my mind and lost my dep) so I was also on a similar budget. I bought a Kitty Chen Couture http://www.kittychencouture.com/bridal/2010cu/aimee.html For 50% off in the store, granted it was a sample but in excellent condition. They may have your dress or something similar, it's worth it if you live in the area. They also sell online http://www.rkbridal.com/
  • The one salon I went to had dresses $400-800 for me to try on. Besides the sites already mentioned for "used" dresses, ebay has samples from regular bridal salons and from closed salons.
  • I am the owner of Kathleen's Bridal in Carterville, IL.  We are having a sale this month on our discontinued sample gowns and they are 50% to 70% off.  Over a hundred in stock - all under $1000.  Name brand designers like Mori Lee, Casablanca, etc.  You can see pictures of many on facebook at Kathleen's Bridal.  Our website is www.kathleensbridal.net.  Let us know if we can help.
  • Consignment or used.  I cannot tell you how happy I am that I got a beautiful dress for half the price. You would never know that it was a used dress!  CL, classifieds (on the left had side, or maybe your area has a bridal consignment store close.
  • ksperl I am confused as to why this is your first post considering you have been on TK since 2002? But You may NOT advertise here, and yes that counts. Shame on you.
  • Yeah, I think you can just do some research and find a place in your area that carries gowns in your price range.  Look at samples as well.  I found my dress (Maggie Sottero) for $899, on sale from $2100.
