song to honor mother during ceremony?

Hi

My FI's mom passed away a few years ago and we were thinking about his niece singing a song to honor her while we light a candle for her in church.

Any suggestions?

Re: song to honor mother during ceremony?

  • The chorus for the song "Holes in the floor of heaven" comes to mind, "'Cus there's holes in the floor of Heaven,
"And her tears are pouring down.
"That's how you know she's watching,
"Wishing she could be here now.
    "An' sometimes if you're lonely,
    "Just remember she can see.
"There's holes in the floor of Heaven
"And she's watching over you and me."

The rest of the song is bout a boy & losing grandmother  & a bride without her mom, but lyrics can be changed if your niece is singing it. I am very sorry for you & fiance's loss, mine just lost his 93 yr old grandmother, which has been hard, so I can only imagine what you guys are going through. Good luck & may God bless your marriage! :)
