Just Engaged and Proposals

Engaged!

I'm pretty new-ish here to the knot and figured since i got engaged just over a month ago that i would finally introduce myself after lurking and reading for awhile. I got engaged to the most amazing man that i could ever ask for on our 2yr anniversary on October 24th. I couldn't be happier :)

We went for dinner at the keg and then he took me for a walk downtown by the water and then later proposed to me in front of the parliament buildings. He had me thinking that someone was coming with my anniversary suprise which had me confused because it was almost 10pm at nigh. Then he asked me to close my eyes because "they" had arrived and so i did. When i opened them he was on his knee with the box open and the ring in it. I of course said "yes". It was so cute and romantic, just the two of us. He picked the most gorgeous ring ever and i'm so proud to wear it on my finger.

We picked out July 12, 2014 for our wedding date and i'm so excited, i just want to plan everything now!

So i was wondering if any of you ladies found it really strange in the beginning to say the word fiance? I always catch myself saying boyfriend still. It just seems strange saying fiance after saying boyfriend for 2yrs. Idk, call me crazy.

Sorry for the long post.

(dont mind the fresca and brownies in the backround ;)

YES. I had to practice it a good bit because I rarely referred to him by his moniker anyway, as my patients and coworkers all know who 'Tyler' is. I had to make a point of referring to him as my fiancé when talking just to solidify the use of the word. He says that he also had a hard time transitioning, but I think we've both gotten it down now, heh.

    Congratulations!

  • Congrats! Your ring is beautiful!! I just got engaged as well, and I find that other people correct me before it dawns on me that I even just called Matt my "boyfriend".

  • Congratulations!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

</div><div>Michael said the same thing that he still just uses the term girlfriend and or my name which is fine by me! I think it won't be so weird in another couple of weeks once i practice like you did ;) haha </div></div>

  • Congratulations on your engagement! I'm still getting used to using fiance as well but it's great to say when I catch myself about to say boyfriend! Happy planning!
  • Cpmgrats! Just wait until you have to transition to 'husband'!
  • Congratulations on your engagement! I'm not a fan of the word fiance and try to use it as infrequently as I can (I just find it an annoying word that's all); I usually just call him by his first name. :)
