Have anyone done their CAKE TASTING yet?

We are going this Friday!!!!!!!!! I was wondering for those that went which flavor cake did y'all choose? Just want a lil heads up before I get there.

We did ours a couple weeks ago. Actually, I did ours. FI had a hangover for cake tasting day, lol. That was the one thing he wanted to do more than anything and he missed out.

Anyhoo, we are having one layer almond cake with blackberry preserves (red velvet is my fav, but this was amazing!), a red velvet and cream cheese layer, and chocolate with chocolate mousse for our third tier. The red velvet will be our take home tier.

Wooo we did! Definitely the most fun part. We went to three places technically, but only did a tasting at two of them. We ended up deciding on a chocolate ganache and a carrot cake (with amazing icing) as well as a grand marnier strawberry cake that will be the top that we take home--it was SO good and I'm a chocolate fiend so that says a lot! We are doing a cannoli tower with sheet cake in the back so people can either have a cannoli or a slice of cake or BOTH! :-D

Good luck! Go there with an empty stomach and a bottle of water, you'll be on a sugar high after!!

I did mine...we are going with vanilla cake with buttercream icing, but are having a dessert bar for the guests. All vegan of course!

We actually did ours months ago, lol, we just couldn't wait! We chose vanilla with strawberry filling for the bottom tier, chocolate and vanilla marble for the middle tier and amaretto for the top tier. Our 'take home' tier on the very top is plain vanilla (surprisingly it was my favorite). All with buttercream frosting. I would definitely accept a drink (water, milk) if they offer one.

mmm cake tasting was one of the best things so far! We're having one tier chocolate espresso, one tier lemon, and one tier chocolate raspberry. Our take home tier will be prepared separately (just how our venue does it), chocolate raspberry.

I was surprised by the lemon cake...we thought we'd want all chocolate but the lemon might be my favorite now.

We haven't done one and weren't really planning to. The lady who is making our cake is also the innkeeper at the B&B we're staying at the night of the wedding, and she didn't offer to do a tasting, though I'm sure she would if we asked. Everyone in town (it's a very small town) swears by her cakes, so I'm putting my faith in them!

We're doing cupcakes and the cupcakery doesn't accept orders >3 months in advance (since they change their flavors often), so I have to wait until late January to go. My FI is pumped! He is more than willing to sacrifice the calories and do the tasting...can't wait!

Our cake is included with the price and thank god the bakery they use is awesome.
The entire cake will be marble with choc chips, but the top & bottom filling will be canoli, another choc pudding and another strawberry. I'm pretty sure we did buttercream icing, but i can't recall, we went months ago. I have to look at the order again. Their red velvet was really yummy, but not everyone likes it so we went with safe flavors. The hall also includes an ice cream bar.

We did the tasting this week. I reserved the day for my birthday! It was great to taste so many cakes on my special day We had a great time choosing the cake. Our flavors: 2 layers of chocolate w chocolate mousse and 2 layers of cheesecake w fresh strawberries.

Tell us after you go what flavors you chose!!

Mojito - Silver pound with mint julep filling
Persian Passion - Silver pound with orange, cinnamon, and cardamom filling
Rock Star - Black and White cake with alternating layers of Bailey's & Whiskey filling

we did ours a couple of months ago too and it was one of the best parts so far for sure! we couldn't decide so we are getting two flavors (alternating tiers)...one is chocolate cake w/ bailey's mocha mousse, and the other is vanilla cake w/ raspberry truffle filling.

I went back in August for my tasting and still remember how wonderful it was. We chose dreamsicle for 2 tiers and keylime for the other too, and its awesome loved it. Hoping my guest will love it as well.

We did ours is October, two of our tiers are poppy-seed with vanilla almond frosting, and the center tier is "green velvet" (since red would clash with my colors!)

Soo yummy and poppy-seed is great for spring!

I did mine a couple weeks ago - well, sort of. One of my bridesmaids does wedding cakes for a living, but I don't want her to have to be up all night the night before working on our cake, so I'm having her do a fake display cake and will have sheet cake in the back to cut. Since we're only ordering sheet cake, the bakery doesn't offer tastings. They did, however, let me taste the fillings. So... I ordered 4 different flavors: chocolate cake with caramel buttercream filling, marble cake with cookies and cream filling, white cake with fresh strawberries and bavarian cream filling, and red velvet with cream cheese filling. All are frosted with American buttercream.
