For our wedding we were thinking about just having a Justice of the Peace marry us at our location, so that we could save some money. I have tired to find some information on them on line. The only thing that I can find is getting married in a court house and that is not what we want. Am I wrong thinking that they will do a ceremony at a location of choice? Do you ladies know anything about this?

    Hi! Maryland no longer has JOPs. They only use Circuit Court clerks, now. That's why you aren't able to find any info about them. I hope this helps!!

    Oh thanks! No I didn't know that. So I guess we are going to pay more money and go with an officiate.

    You can have ordained at the Universal Life Church online if you want to save money.  I think officiants tend to cost a few hundred.

    Is that a little weird to be married online and would you still have a ceremony and who would be the "minister". Whoo.....wedding stuff gets complicated!

    You don't get married online, you have someone get ordained online and then they are able to perform your ceremony on the day of.  You can choose a close friend or family member to be the 'minister'
