Miami/South Beach hotels

We are staying a night in miami/south beach before flying to the DR and I am looking for hotel recommendations. Does anyone have any? TIA!

    Last year my husband and I stayed one night at the Essex House Hotel in South Beach.  It's not 5 star luxury, but it is a very cool art deco hotel.  The location is fantastic and we got an amazing rate on Hotels.com (I think around $80).  When we arrived, the staff upgraded us to a suite free of charge.  Guests are also allowed access to the rooftop lounges and pool at their sister hotel, The Clevelander, which is right next door. 

    Another reasonably priced hotel we considered was Circa 39, but we preferred the location of the Essex House.

    I think for 1 night, South Beach will be very expensive even more if it is during winter. I would stay in a hotel by the airport to be easier. The Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Airport South Blue Lagoon (http://www.hamptoninnmiamiairport.com/) is very nice, with airport shuttle, breakfast and wi-fi.
