Out of town guest packages/boxes

Is anyone putting together packages/boxes for their out of town guests?  ( something  personal and a little extra for driving the distance to attend the wedding)  In my case friends are driving in from Pittsburgh and Florida.

If so what are you putting in the boxes?

We're giving everyone OOT bags since everyone will be OOT.

A welcome brochure, OBX coupon books and guides, personalized water and wine bottles, Aleve, sunscreen, pashmina shawl, snacks and some OBX items like taffy, candles, etc. that I'll pick up when I get into town.

We are too! We are using buckets rather than bags but in them we are putting: beach towel, spf, advil, map of the area, coupon books, visitor's guide, Cheerwine, and Kettle Corn made locally. Also a personalized welcome brochure from us with the schedule for the weekend and other games.

We are doing the same thing.  Using bright colored gift bags from Oriental Trading which will contain:

Wedding brouchures with schedule and other information, fun door hangers, Sunny Day Guide book (free from visitor center), burned wedding cd's of our music, OBX map postcard ($10 for 50 of them at this website - great deal!  www.aps-1.com/shop/product_reviews.php?products_id=772&osCsid=8e6889b003a92d5a05205d131b5e113e">https://www.aps-1.com/shop/product_reviews.php?products_id=772&osCsid=8e6889b003a92d5a05205d131b5e113e
a certificate for one duck donut (if I can get them to do individual certificates for me- still have to ask), advil packets, gum, taffy with personalized labels, water bottles, chips, cookies and maybe a magnet (Love ms_teach's idea!)

I am inviting 120 people to our wedding, and I'm sure not all will attend bc of the distance, but are you ladies doing OOT bags for everyone or just the people staying with you?  I don't want to break the bank on these but I think they are great and every wedding I've been to here in Jersey does the bags in the hotels for everyone staying there...
Also I'm sure people will be staying at a variety of places bc my girlfriends will most liekly rent a home for the week where family will probably stay at a hotel.  How would I get the bags to everyone?  Is giving them out at the end of the reception tacky?

We are doing OOT bags and adding most of the items that the ladies listed above.  Most of our guests will be couples so we are doing 1 bag per couple but those that are single will still get their own bags as well.  The Sunny Day books and the Outer Banks Magazines are FREE from the Welcome Center and you can just stop in and pick those up, but I believe they will also ship you a box too.

What we are doing to get the bags out to people is this:  Brent and I will leave before everyone else on Sunday morning and haul butt to get there first.  I have contacted the Mgmt company for his parents home as well as my families home so that I can gain entry and leave a bag in each bedroom...we are also making a big gift basket full of Brent's families fabvorite treats and 1 of those treats is coming all the way from Seattle, so I am psyched about that!  The large basket will be left in the kitchen for all of them to share together.....along with their personal OOT bags as well.  I am also doing this for both of our wedding parties homes as well.  Now, for people staying in the hotels, typically you will block off a group of rooms for them at a discounted rate and since there is a deadline to book, I will call the hotel after the deadline to see how many guests will be staying at each hotel and then leave the OOT bags at the front desk where they will be passed out upon check-in.

    Hope this helps!

Ohhh and you can typically but stiff like the Tylenol, bottled water, etc. in bulk at Costco or Sam's Club to save money :)

I am having about 40 people.  Every family will get a bag, so that reduces the number down.  Basically, if they are old enough to get their own invite (18+), they get a bag.  I will find out where everyone is staying and deliver them so that they receive it when they check in.

I'll have to get to Costco for those goodies thanks OBX forgot about that store!!   As for getting them to everyone I'll have to see where everyone is staying.. i got some time to plan just have to work out the details!  Sometimes I feel like I'll be planning forever and I still have a year left! eek!!!

Thanks to everyone for their input.  I am definately going to make the OOT packages now.  Everyone has posted ideas/things that I would have never thought about.

    Thanks again!

I'm not sure about Costco, but I couldn't find individual packets of Advil/Tylenol at Sam's Club.  I did find them however, for not TOO terrible a price at Officedepot.com, strangely enough
