Registry check!

Whoo hoo! That part is done! Now I just have to go over everything. I'm a little upset that some of the stuff that was in stores isn't online. Undecided Buuut... oh well. Decided to just stick with BB&B and REI. After scouting out online I had about 3 things lined up for Belk. lol! Pretty pleased with the selection we have as well. Have everything from $3.99 to $199.99. =) I think our most expensive items from both registries are the Shark vaccum (ditched the Dyson), $129 fiber bed, $100 tent, and $100 flatware set. The rest just kind of falls from there. Do you think that's okay?

Anyways... just glad that the bulk of it is over. Scoping out online beforehand made a world of difference. We only spent about 2.5 hours at BB&B and did the REI online in about 30 minutes. =)

ETA: I am kind of worried because we chose three lamps in store that aren't online. There's not even a picture to get an idea... I'm wondering if I should choose some  online instead...?

Re: Registry check!

  • Feels good to have that done, doesn't it? Your price range sounds fine. I'm worried because we have a lot of things $25 and under, and then a lot of things $80 and over, with only a few things inbetween. I'm gonna have to go back and tweak it a bit.

<div>See... I think we did well in that department. We have a good selection of $30-$80 stuff. I'm just worried we'll look greedy with a $100 saute pan and a $70 knife. FI chose them and, granted, they are the only ones that are a single item and pricey like that, I still feel kind of bad. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-undecided.gif" border="0" alt="Undecided" title="Undecided" /> Idk.. they <em>are</em> Calphalon so they're good quality. I'll just leave them. If someone gets them great, if not then NBD.</div>

</div><div>We went for a lot of the high-end appliances (Cuisinart, KitchenAid). I look at my registry and I feel like it makes us look really greedy. I honestly don't expect people to buy us this stuff, but I also don't want someone to buy us a $20 blender that'll break in 2 years, KWIM? It's tough for us too because we're basically starting from scratch, so we need EVERYTHING.

<div>Oh I totally get it. The only reason I don't feel so bad (and we don't have a million things) is because we've been together for awhile and our families were very nice and helped us out so we have a ton of stuff already. We have most pots we would need and got a few nice pans. We just needed to supplement. Our big things were a vaccum that sucks things up (honestly our's now I have to run over something 10 times and then end up just picking it up with my hand lol) and dishes/tableware. We have WalMart dishes and hand me down mismatched aluminum feeling tableware. haha! Is it weird to be excited over real forks?</div>
  • Sounds completely fine! I think as long as you have a range of prices and plenty of stuff for your guests to pick from, it's perfectly fine to throw some pricey things on there (especially if you know great aunt Ida and your Nana June will buy something pricey). Mine is mostly stuff in the 25, 50, or 75 dollar range and then I threw in a few pricey things. I put a dyson (400), a caphalon set (400), and flatwear set (150) but those are the only things above 100 dollars. I already know my aunt is buying the dyson. And if no one buys the other stuff, completion discount!!!

<div>Haha not at all! It was funny watching FI pick out the flatware. He wasn't specific about a lot of things, but he was VERY specific about the flatware. I have no idea why.</div>

  • I also worried about looking greedy but I decided not to worry about it. We don't actually expect to receive the expensive items (kitchenaid mixer though my FI dreams about having one).  We just decided to have some fun and made sure there was a wide range of price points.  We've lived together for two years so most of what we registered for are not needs anyway. But I know when I attend others weddings, I prefer they have a registry.  I want to make sure I get them something they like.  But it does feel weird to be on the other side.

What surprised me was how exhausting registering was.  Before I was engaged, I thought it would be just be all fun and no work, like shopping without actually buying but registering was a lot of work!

  • We were the same way. We wanted to have a decent sized registry just in case yet match all the price points as well. We did end up registering for quite a few pricey things as well, not expecting anyone to buy us them but so we could use the completion discount afterwards to buy it for ourselves.
  • Way to go! I am dreading doing the registries, honestly. Great check!
