My fiance is a retired/disabled (100% Service connected per the VA) sailor. He served on the USS Virginia SSN774 as a CS and Diver, and is disabled due to developing schizophrenia while underway. For our wedding, he wants to wear his uniform. From what I understand, there are several options:
Full Dress White, large medals, no civilian equivalent listed
LinkDinner Dress White, mini medals, equivalent to civilian black tie
LinkService Dress White, ribbons, equivalent to civilian coat and tie

He would prefer the Full Dress White, but is unsure what protocol requires. The wedding is at 1pm, and civilians (all other guests) will be in shirt and tie. But, he doesn't beleive SDW is formal enough.
Thoughts?
