So I'm just starting to look for my wedding dress, and I have found a few that I really like online. But I don't know how I feel about ordering my wedding dress online without trying it on. So I'm wondering if any of you ladies have bought your wedding dress online, and if so were you happy when you got the dress!

I found a dress that I loves online but I personally wouldn't but it unless I tried it on. I emailed the company and they gave me a list of places around me that carried it. I drove 2 hours to try it on and it was literally 20 sizes to big but it was the only one they had. I ordered it from that place then got my alterations close to home so I didn't have to keep driving that far. Maybe you can email the company as well.

I wouldn't buy a dress without trying it on first. If I tried it on. loved it and could order it on-line, I'd do that. Just make sure to try the dress on somewhere before buying it on-line.

I don't think I could do it... are there similar styles that you can try on in person? Just because when I started looking at wedding dresses, I knew the dress that I wanted... I tried on some similar and found that it was not my style at all. I do have a friend who ordered her dress online w/o trying it on, but did try on similar ones.

Thanks Ladies! I was kind of going back and forth on wheather to even look at buying a dress online without trying it on but you all made very valid points! So I will not being buying a dress online without at least trying it on or a dress similar to it. I do have another questions for you ladies. How far in advance did you buy your dress? I had a baby 6 months ago, and I'm still about 5 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight but still need tone up and loose some inches. Was it difficult for you ladies to have your dresses altered if you had to have them altered at all.

I agree with the other ladies on ordering the dress... definitely try it on in store first.

I ordered my dress 9 months before my wedding. Many designers take 6 - 8 months to come in. A good seamstress would be able to get it altered for you without issue.

Agree with PPs on it. Also, there's horror stories on the "attire" board about online dresses. Like Lora, I also ended up with something completely different than what I thought I wanted.

I ordered mine last weekend, wedding's in November. I'm also losing weight but between the corset back and alterations I figure I should be good. They told me at the store that corset back makes it easier to "change" the sizing a little since you can loosen/tighten it, so maybe try that?

I ordered my dress, then lost 20lbs, quite unexpected actually. They also ordered me a size up originally than the sample that fit (in case it had stretched) and based on my measurements. After alterations, it was absolutly perfect. I had a corset back too, so I think that helps with sizing. A good seamstress can do that, especially if you're only 5lbs out. I ordered about 9 months in advance I think

I would probably not order online. A lot of the dresses I thought I liked I did not actually like on me. And the ones the consultant recommended for me were way better.
