16 and Pregnant

The girl that I babysit is 13 and slightly obsessed with MTV. Namely 16 and Pregnant. There's a marathon on today and I got sucked in. The current teen mom has gained 12lbs during her pregnancy and she wants to go on a diet. SERIOUSLY?!?!  She's whined through the entire episode about how "FAT" she is.. she doesn't really even look pregnant though. her arms and legs are skinny, she just has a baby inside her tummy. This show is ridiculous and I hate that it's so popular with "tweens". It's like they are trying to make teenage pregnancy cool. It's not. It disgusts me. Thoughts? Feelings? Do you know anyone who was 16 and pregnant?

Did the girl visit the doctor? Maybe she doesn't know that weight gain is actually normal during pregnancy! I think my sister said you have to gain like 30-40 lbs, according to her doctor. She just had a baby. I can't believe that shows about teen pregnancy is becoming so popular. There's 2 on MTV and there's that show "Secret Life" on ABC family. The characters there are in high school married, and pregnant. I saw half an episode this week. I couldn't believe it! I've never known anyone in real life that got KU that young though.

I can't watch it! It drives me nuts. The few episodes I've seen have made me cringe. Fi and I do enjoy the reunion shows, however. Mainly because we love Dr. Drew. :)

And yes, I did know someone who was "16 and pregnant" in high school. She drank and did drugs the whole time she was pregnant and everyone was surprised her baby came out perfectly healthy.

This show is a trainwreck.. like I can't stop watching this disaster.

The episode on now, has the 2 16 year old parents, and they are about to have twins.. so he propsed to her. She justified saying yes by saying "when we leave the hospital I can say this is my FI, not just my Baby Daddy". Klassy..

I was at a Wendy's in Georgia on my way up here, and saw a girl who could not have been more than 17 years old with her parents, a boy about her age, and a baby. At first I assumed, parents and their three kids, right? Right??!! Nope. It became clear the baby belonged to the teenagers, who were both wearing wedding rings. And when she got up to get napkins to clean up after the baby, I could clearly see her very pregnant belly. I will never get accustomed to seeing pregnant teenagers. It just makes me so sad.

I liked the first season of 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom. I loved Maci and her baby Bentley.  She is a good momma.

They do provide a lot of information about preventing teen pregnancy and relationship abuse.

And the thing is . . Teenagers ARE having sex, they ARE getting pregnant, at least some of them have a way of making income through MTV, and documenting their stories to prevent a few unwanted pregnancies in the world.

In defense of the girl who was complaining about being fat. She is anorexic and that is stated in the show. She also has a mother who knows her issues that asks her to diet after the pregnancy. Way to be a good mom, oh wait.

I've been working and when I come home at night I'm usually too tired. My weekends I spend at the pool pretty much all day, and then go out at night with friends. I'm starting to adjust really well here so that makes me happy :)

Your comment about H acting like a frat boy made me laugh btw because AJ is totally doing the same thing in Japan, but at least he's having fun. I can't say much anyway because I've bene going out just as much as him lately haha.

I miss our emails! we should start those up again!

Yeah I was going to add that little piece of information.  What a FABLOUS mother to get her pregant daughter that is anorexic to go on a diet with you.  Seriously some people should not have children.

I have to say though I do watch the show...again like a train wreck I just can't turn away.  One of the girls from a previous show put her child up for adoption and her mother basically yelled at her the entire show for what I think is a very adult decision.  Oh yeah and now I watch teen moms...I really should pick up a hobby <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />.

I saw that episode and almost yelled at the television screen. It wasn't just that the mother wanted to go on a diet with her anorexic daughter but it was also that good ole' mom was never there for her kid, told her daughter to lie down when her water broke and required the daughter's boyfriend to pay $300 in rent which messed up a lot of the couple's plans such as the daughter graduating from high school. It was just a sad episode.

Don't worry about the hobby thing. Usually I am sewing or trying to play the ukulele while watching it.
