Traditional Ceremony Music?

I'm so jealous of the songs you all are walking down the aisle to! The church I am having my wedding at will not allow "secular" music so I'm stuck with instrumental, organ music. It's not that I don't like it, I just think it might be more moving to play songs with actual words.

Has anyone been to a wedding that played organ music? What are your thoughts?

    I have and there is a huge possibility that I will have a trio playing for our ceremony. We can pick whatever popular songs we want, it will just be the instrumental version.

    I'm having only gospel songs played at my ceremony since it's in a church . I just chose some wedding appropriate music by gospel artists.  Is it required that the music is played by organ, or can someone bring in a keyboard, etc.?  If your church allows gospel music and/or keyboard music let me know and I can send you a list of songs that you may be able to use.

    I have actually attended several weddings with organ music, and it just depends on the song that's being played whether or not it sounds good.

    See that was my original idea...having just gospel music. And now I'm torn again. Can you send me your songs? I'd greatly appreciate it!

    Right now the songs we have in mind are:
    -Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring...Bach
    -Canon in D....Pachelbel
    -The Bridal March...Wagner
    -The Wedding March...Mendelssohn

    There are plenty of gospel songs you can choose from, it all about the muscian. Instrumentals just give another feeling, sometimes even more romantic.

    Those are good ideas if your ceremony is very formal.  But here are a few gospel songs to consider:

    "When I Found You" by BeBe Winans
    "Close to You" by BeBe and CeCe Winans - this one is very popular - perhaps overdone!
    "Believe" by Bryan Courtney Wilson
    "The One He Kept for Me" by Maurette Brown Clark (I think several of the AAW ladies are using this song as their bridal procession)
    "Total Praise" - don't know who made this song but we walked down the aisle to this one for my sister's wedding
    "The Prayer" by Yolanda Adams
    "My Life, My Love, My All" by Kirk Franklin (this is my bridal procession song)

    These are all I can think of right now.  I know there's a song by CeCe Winans that is popular for the bridal procession, just can't think of the name of it right now.

    Last year i sung Born for this by BeBe Winans at a friend's wedding. Its a beautiful song

    Does it have to be an organ? You can have violinists or a harpist play. For example, we're having both play a still undertermined selection of music prior to the ceremony. For the procession, we're having the violinists play Canon in D by Pachelbel. I really, REALLY wanted (ok, I begged) for the violinists and harpist b/c I hate organs.

    That's a good idea too! No it doesn't have to be an organ.

    What do you all think about mixing music? Like using Canon in D for the bridesmaids and a gospel song for me?
