Wedding Cake

I want to incorporate my Grandmothers memory some how. I have these porcelain elephants of hers that were given to me after she passed away, they are very dear to me and I would like to use them as cake toppers for our wedding cake, but I can't really find a way to do it that will go with the rest of the wedding. We are having a winter wedding and elephants just don't fit, should I put them on the cake anyways?

I definitely think you should use them!  Whether it "goes" or not....you will be happy you did.  Perhaps you should ask the cake decorator their opinion?  do you already have a decorator.... what did they say?

As sweet as that idea is, there is a possibility that the elephants could get misplaced, forgotten, thrown out, broken, etc. in all the hustle and bustle of the day.  I wouldn't put something that means so much to me and that is so irreplaceable in that situation.

Why not go to etsy and see if you can find a vendor who can make you custom elephant cake toppers? You could ask her to incorporate your wedding color and theme as well.  You'll know the meaning behind the elephants and honor your grandmother, it will match the theme more closely the original ones, and your heirloom remains safely at home.

I agree with the previous poster.  It would be so sad if something happened to them!
