harry potter fans come here

So I am home studying today and H and I have Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 on. For like the 6th time since we bought it a week ago.

I personally think this film was incredibly well down. I think the present director is the best in the series actually.

However- did anyone notice that they chose NOT to use the original HP musical theme at all in this? They completely rescored the film. I actually think it was brilliant. Even the camera work on this one is different. Maybe it's over analytical of me, but I feel like it was all a concerted effor to establish that nothing is the same in the wizarding world. The light hearted side is gone. I love how this film just jumps right in to the war.

anyone else?

  • Part 1 was awesome. Definitely darker than all of the other films. I'm pee my pants excited for part 2

  • me too. I cannot WAIT although I am totally sad. I think these films get better and better. I absolutely adore them. They are fairly all well done (except one and two, IMO) and the actors are a pleasure to watch. I love Harry, Ron and Hermione. They are brilliant in their roles. I feel like I grew up with these characters. H and I have been going to see these films together since we started dating 8 years ago... it's sad to know its nearly over!

  • Im actually watching it right now! It is very dark but I like that.

Im a little lost because I actually have not seen the last couple movies and have not read the last book again since it came out.

  • I know I'm going to cry like a baby at part 2.

I was watching part 1 a few nights ago and Tim came home from work early (he hates HP). He had to sit through the last half hour and then he started talking shiit about Dobby and I got all pissed off. So, yeah ...

  • I rented this On Demand the other day, and it sealed the deal for me to buy it (it's going to be an Easter gift to myself). I saw it in the theaters obviously, and now that I've watched it again, I really don't know how I'm going to be able to wait until July. Also, I have a serious crush on Ron in this movie. It's weird.
  • I will bawl. I am lucky- H loves HP too. I mean really - he works at a toy company and loves cartoons so its not a surprise. However, he actually read all the books too and he's not a huge fiction reader. I love that he loves it :)

  • I was bored through a lot of Part 1. I know it was a lot of build-up for the last movie, but it was too slow for me. However, I did really like the relationships between the characters and I thought the dance scene between Harry and Hermonie was really touching.

The end made me cry though, and I'm not even all that big a HP fan.
  • yea the end made me bawl. :(

  • I thought the first one was slow too, Sesh. But at the same time, I'm really kind of glad it was beacuse the last book is SO big and has so much info in it, that you kind of needed that background.

I can't wait to buy it for myself - I am a HUGE HP fan, and I think this movie is the best one so far - but Pt. 2 will be out soon, so we'll see if that opinion changes.

The whole tone of the movie was so different, too - when everything happens in the beginning, the characters were like "Shiit just got real" lol

And I think the reason you have the crush on Ron, Mara, is because all of a sudden he's grown ... and pretty easy on the eyes, and more mature in this movie than he has been before.  JMO.

I LOVED the dance scene,  I think it made such a great statement about their friendship and what they were going through.  It pissed me off that the critics said it was pointless and should have been left out.

I'm so excited for the second movie.  I may have to do a midnight showing since it's the last one and all.   I have a feeling I'm going to be bawling during the majority of it.

  • Ooooh I didn't realize it was out On Demand/dvd yet! I might have to invite my parents over for a HP night on Sunday because I know mom wants to watch it too :)

I didn't realize that the opening scene for part 2 was only on the blu ray version. We bought the DVD the day it came out and I came home all excited to watch it, only it wasn't on there!

I loved how dark it was. It definitely had a different tone, and it was great. I can't wait for part 2.

  • ughhhhh I cannot wait to see this again! I only saw it once in the theater. We had such a busy schedule so H and I decided we wouldn't get it until this weekend. I'm home and would be too tempted to watch it during the day without him lol... only one more day yay!!!

  • I refused to watch any new HP movie until I rewatch all of them for the hundredth time. Before we saw Part 1 in theatres, we watched all of them and then the same thing when we bought the movie lol. We completely pick the movies apart and how a lot of "important" things were left out. Out of ALL of them, this one was my favourite. I really hated the 5th one (movie not book). It makes me rage.

I love the darkness of this one because the books get progressively darker. I'm seriously not looking forward to the last one only because it means my childhood is officially over. :(

  • I think all of the films are amazing. The first two were really well done for the time that they came out, and they were a little bit less dark, just as the books were. I'll be doing a midnight showing regarless of my work schedule the next day. And I'll probably cry like a baby :)
