Cookware Set

Do you have a stainless steel cookware set you'd recommend? I'm set on going with stainless steel, but I'm having trouble deciding on a set. My mom is getting it for me and said to pick which ever one I want, but I probably wouldn't want to go over 500.

Re: Cookware Set

  • I'm a big fan of my Calphalon cookware.

  • I've had Calphalon sautee pans before and they are AMAZING.  Fi just ruined a set I've had for about 5 years (he didn't know not to use metal utensils, and the teflon started to flake off), so we registered for some more and we'll see if we get them....

  • Are you Costco people?  I've heard that the Costco set is pretty nice, and since your mom is getting it (so you're not putting it on your registry), you could direct her there.

DH has had All-Clad stainless for a while, we like it.
  • All-Clad is amazing, but you're not going to get a set of it for less than $500. Macy's has an Emerilware set that is made by All-Clad but for wayyyy cheaper.

And, as PP said, Calphalon is really nice, too.

  • I ditto PP's advice about costco - that's a great set and literally the best deal around.  I also recommend calphalon triply or contemporary and le creuset tri ply

<div>My parents have the Costco (Kirkland brand) set and LOVE it... they are hoping that my moms siblings will chip in to get it for us.</div>

  • Another Calphalon recommendation! We registered for the try ply stainless steel 13 piece set at Macys. Macys runs a great promotion that includes a utensil set and extra pan if you buy $300 worth of Calphalon products.

[QUOTE]I'm a big fan of Calphalon. Try out the pieces.  Pick them up, see how they fit into your hand. Don't balk at registering for the good stuff. It's pointless to get pieces that just wear out after a few years. Don't forget a few pieces of Corningware (the French White goes beautifully from oven to microwave to table) and some cast iron (skillet and Dutch oven) as well.

<div>Definitely second the Corningware recommendation.  We registered for and received a set from Macy's that has 4 different sizes (2 oval, 2 round), and includes a glass lid and a plastic lid for each piece.  It's really useful.</div>
  • I have Caphalon and have it for ages.  I would kill for AllClad though

We received this for our wedding. I've been using them 3 months and absolutely love them. I use barkeeoers friend and they still look new even though I am rough on them at times.

  • I am registered for All Clad and I am super stoked about them!  You probably won't find a set of decent size for under $500 though.

I also love my french white coringware, I use it all the time.

  • I love my All-Clad but Cuisinart and Calphalon is nice also.  I wouldn't recommend Emerilware because if I remember correctly, it had terrible reviews.

We love our Calphalon Tri-Ply.  We only registered for three pieces and they are really all we need: the 5 qt. sautee pan, the 2.5 qt. sautee pan and the 12" Everyday pan.  I would also recommend registering for a couple of cast iron skillets for non-stick pieces.

  • We splurged and got All-Clad open stock for our registry. It's amazing! We also have a Calphalon nonstick omlette pan that is great. And ditto PPs recommendations for a cast-iron skillet. DH has a Lodge Logic one that is several years old and it makes the most amazing grilled cheese and pancakes ever!
