August 4th Brides - Happy 2 months!

I can't believe it's only 2 months to go! I feel like I still have a ton to do!

My question is how many responses are you getting for RSVPs. I'm not getting many at all and it's kinda bugging me! Hopefully they start coming in a bit faster now.

I did get quite a few things checked off my list this weekend though! And excited about our tasting on Saturday!

Good luck for the last 62 days!

  • HAPPY TWO MONTHS.  I mailed my invites out last week and i've received 8 our of 39 back so far.  My RSVP date isn't until July 28th though.  However, that being said, my mom told me that socail ettiquet is dead in today's society and not to be suprised if come July I have to hunt down several people.  Good luck!  ohhhh so excited.  (today happens to be the 2 year ann. of my FI and my first date too)
  • I just mailed out my invites today so we'll see!

  • i mailed mines out last Tuesday...I received 9 out of 70...slow I see
  • Yeah!! Still so much to do once I know the final guest count!

Mailed mine early may.  I've got 41 guests confirmed out of 112.....set the RSVP date for june 1st so still have a lot left.  I've already called a few.  Some are still waiting to make sure they can get hotels booked (sort of a destination wedding in Florida).  Hopefully a lot more will come in soon!

  • NP Megan. I should have said August 4th weekend Brides! It's 2 months for you too! My problem with my invites is that we have invited a lot of family and friends that live overseas, and we are not expecting them to be able to attend - I need their "no" RSVPs so that I can invite some people that had to be put on the B list because our parents insisted on inviting people we know aren't going to make it. Our official date to RSVP is 30 June, but I was hoping the people that knew they couldn't make it would let me know sooner rather than later.

  • of the 8 i've gotten back (well, 7 really because my father called and said they wanted to keep it) most have been family.  I laughed so hard when I got my first 'declines with regret" because it's my FSIL, who's entire family (husband and two children) are IN the wedding and she's makiing all of my centerpeices LOL.  The joke was just what I needed to break some of the pressure.  Im starting to freak out, as my FI pointed out to me right before I  went to sleep (past midnight) "we're officially less than two months away baby".  agggggggggggggggggggggg
  • I received several RSVPs early on (from older guests) but I'm still waiting to hear from close friends and out-of-staters. I wish I knew how many people to plan for! Yikes! Good luck to everyone :)

  • We mailed ours out early because we are having sort of a desination wedding (most of our guests will have to travel at least 5 hours to get to the wedding location).  I have received a lot of them, however a lot of fiance's friends are dragging their feet.

I am an August 3rd bride but I am having a small park ceremony so most of my invites sent via Facebook event. I have gotten 27 responses out of 40 so far.

  • My original RSVP date was July 7th (destination wedding) but I had to move it up to June 27th to meet some vendor requirements I didn't accoutn for before. I am giving a non-advertised 3 day grace period to give me time to hunt down scragglers. So far, 30 say yes and 40 say no. Still waiting on about 21 people (who I expect to be "no" at this point, it's a seriously expensive trip).

In this time, I've also canceled my venue and booked another one and downsized EVERYTHING about the wedding (essentially re-doing my entire wedding 2 months before). Lost some money, still hunting down some refunds, but this way, I'm losing a lot less than I would have been if I went through with the bigger wedding. (Originally around 50 people said they were coming and a LOT of them have changed their RSVP to know since then, so I was trying to minimize how much money I was losing as a result).

The wedding is now simpler, and cheaper and 75% less stressful. No dancing, forgoing the DJ, shorter reception and I still get to feed everybody properly, and have cake, and have a good time with the people who came 3,000 miles to share my day with me. We're turning it into a weekend celebration!
