DJ Recommendations

Hi everyone! My fiance and I are getting married next October in Lake Wales, FL, and we've found pretty much every vendor except the DJ. I'm really skittish about committing to a DJ, since I've heard so many horror stories about cheesy, obnoxious MCs taking over the reception and ruining the evening.

So my question is, can anyone recommend a classy, fun DJ in the Central Florida area that is relatively affordable? By "affordable", I'm shooting in the $400-750 range. I'd really appreciate some help, since I value word-of-mouth advertising a lot more than what a businessman puts on their website!

I'm getting married on Saturday and am having Darrin from Fun Factory be my DJ. He costs 895 I think but I totally think hes worth it since the DJ is pretty much the one who runs the show. So far he has been just amazing and gotten all the vendors on the same page for the day of. I haven't had one complaint about him and think he is one of the best vendors I hired. I'll let you know how he does once I come back from my honeymoon :)

Alot of girls here use Jay Edwards.  I will be using him for my October wedding.  I cant wait!  He is $850-950.

I'm using Tagas Entertainment. You can specify what type of DJ you want. I think they are $800-$900

Also, I second Jay Edwards. I called him first, but my day was already booked.

My DJ did an awesome job and I think he was on the upper end of your price range and that included our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.  He kept the dance floor packed and people are still telling us how much they loved him.

I LOVE Jay Edwards!!! We just booked him - he's so much fun! If you tell him that you heard about him on TK or that you listen to MIX 105.1 he'll knock $100 off for you, which puts him at $850, but I've never heard of a single person being disappointed with him. I also heard recently that he will not accept full payment until after the reception is over and that if you weren't happy with his work, he won't take your payment. I don't know if this is still how he operates, but it's a nice gesture.

Not trying to start anything here, but I was a guest at Kim's wedding (luckily in love) and she used Bryan from Tagas.  I personally thought he was great.  The dance floor was packed and everyone had a blast.

Im using Tagas and am super excited about him. FI was very clear he did not want a cheesy  Block Party DJ. So we met him and Ive heard him play at a party before. Some ppl like him and others dont... you really have to just go with your gut when you meet with them.  He is also affordable! HTH
