  Turtle's 1890 Social Centre in Shakopee. My fiance and I had the same problem until we found this place. It is affordable, but not without character. Very cool looking! Has some great reviews online too!

  Check out the 514 Studios in minneapolis,  i think its 1,200 to rent but definitley has a warehouse feel

  If you just did an appetizer/cake reception at an off time, there are probably a range of venues you could afford.  Five Event Center, The Fine Line (a club downtown with a great aesthetic).  We almost went with Jax Cafe in northeast Minneapolis.  They are free to rent, you just order food and drinks from their restaurant.  I hope this helps!

  
  

  Also, when you are discussing cost with vendors, make sure you find out if there are any discounts for Friday nights or Sunday days.  We are having a Sunday wedding because it is more affordable.  Good luck.

  the renaissance festival has one of their buildings they rent out, when the fest isn't happening. The price is pretty low.
