Re: Card Box

  • People generally use paper mache boxes from craft stores like Michaels, Joann Fabric, Hobby Lobby, etc.

I was originally going to make one but decided to do a photo cardbox like this:

  • papermart.com has some, but they're sold in packs.

Sorry, I can't help you. I'm not a DIY-er at all. I ordered my card box back on Nov. 2. It has yet to arrive. The website clearly states production time is 6-8 weeks. 8 weeks was Dec. 28. It better arrive soon. I'm worrying a little. I paid $60 for it!

  • Eek Tara I hope it comes soon!!

I'd think you could get paper mache hat boxes from Michael's or JoAnn's...with their coupons you should be able to get them relatively cheap. We were planning to do this so I researched it a little...we figured we'd just cut holes in between the boxes (so cards can fall all the way to the bottom), wrap them with wrapping paper, glue them together, and then add ribbon or other embellishments. I can't help much more than that because we didn't end up going that route -- my dad is making a log cabin card box.

Maybe check the DIY board, too, I've seen some mini tutorials on it over there.

  • If you go to the wedding section of Michaels there are boxes you won't have to decorate, if they go with your wedding. But if those don't strike your fancy, make sure to get the regular old brown ones. They are so muc cheaper :) and Michael's also has an app that will let you download a coupon to use right in the store. Some will only let you use one per transaction, so it will be a good idea to bring a couple of people along and "let them use" your coupon on each. Good luck! Hope to see pics of it soon!
