The Merion?

I am helping my cousin search for a venue since she is living out of state. I was very impressed by pics of the Merion in Cinnaminson.  They won't give price ranges over the phone, but I'd prefer to have an idea of pricing first rather than have my cousin come for a visit if she can't afford the place. Does anyone have an idea of prices at the merion? My cousin's aiming for a saturday night in November of this year, possibly December if nothing else is available. She'd like to keep it at $125pp or less.

    The Merion was on our list initially...I think they quoted somewhere around $150. However if you look in the SJ bridal mags, it said that their packages start at $90 per person. When the lady couldn't explain the discrepancy, I think thats where we drew the line. We had my sister's graduation party there and it just wasn't worth the prices they were quoting.

    I am having my wedding there on a Sunday in October of this year and I am paying less than $125.  I am not sure if Saturdays are less than $125 though.  I would say call them because if they have the spot open and really want to get rid of the date, they may give you a deal.  It's always worth a try.

    Hi!

       I'm having my wedding at the Merion in Jan on a Friday evening.  The pricing per person is determined by the ballroom you select.  For example their Skylight ballroom is the most popular and is therefore the most expensive per person.  On a Saturday evening you have to have a minimum of 175 people.  For me with the basic package (they have all sorts of upgrades) on a Friday in Jan I was quoted for the Palace ballroom, Skylight ballroom and Empire at under $130 (like a$128 or $125....I cannot remember the exact numbers!) head....tax and gratuity included.   The food is amazing and I've had such a great experience with them in regards to service and answering my questions almost immediately!

    The discrepancy was probably due to the fact that (1) the magazine's info is probably old, and (2) that is probably a price for a wedding in one of the less popular rooms (the Empire Ballroom, I think, in the basement, was the cheapest) during the offseason on an off day (such as Sunday or Thursday).

    OP, if your friend is looking to keep it under $125 a person, tell her etiher to choose one of the non-Skylight ballrooms, or have it on an off day.  Mine is $125/person in the Skylight, but it's on a Sunday evening.  Also, keep in mind that for Friday and Saturday evenings, they have a person mininum (I think it was 150 people minimum for the Skylight - and that's adults over 21) and the cost is higher (I was quoted something like $140 for a Saturday evening).

    You shouldn't get upset when a hall won't discuss price over the phone. Any high priced ticket item is going to want to show you what you get for your money so you can make an informed decision. If you just shop by price without seeing the hall you may think you got a great deal for $99 a head, when in fact you could have gotten a much better deal at $125 per head at another venue.

    The Merion is an extremely attractive venue compared to something that might be cheaper, like a country club. And their food and cocktail hour are second to none.

    A hall is almost always going to try and get you to spend more than what you intended, just like a car dealer. However if you take the time to meet with them you may be able to stick to your initial budget by removing some items.

    When I visited the Merion I was quoted $115 a person.  Mind you I wanted a day time Saturday reception that would start at 12 and end at 5.   I found that all the reception halls I looked at were much cheaper because of my start time.  The Merion was absolutely beautiful, and you can definitely see where the money goes.  Most of the big reception halls in this area (Mansion, Lucien's and Merion) are very pricey to have evening weddings though. 

    As other people said, if your cousin really falls in love with the place, try checking off times.  Good luck!

    I am thinking about having my wedding at the Merion.  Your best bet is go to and meet with them. The rooms at the Merion go from 160-175 on a Saturday night but honestly the amount of food and things you get its worth it. I have been to a few places so far and yes they are cheaper then the Merion but when you factor in all the upgrades the Merion is giving you , the older places prices come out to be the same.  The Merion is worth it and I havent even booked it yet.  Good luck

    I am getting married at the Merion in November 2011 on an off night and obviously a Saturday night would be much more expensive.  I beleive he skylight is sold out for all of 2010.  I also thought that I was not going to book there because I knew they were going to be high...  but when I went there and looked and saw just how breath taking the place both my FH and I were completel sold.  We looked at numerous other venues after that and none could compare.  Now we are not having a regural sit down dinner we are having a station themed wedding with about 13 stations which will be open all night long so that there is food available to our guests all night.  And at first they quoted me $125 with a 130 adult min (tax and grat. inclusive) then I got them to take it down to $110 per person but I have to have a 150 adult min.  Also, they worked with me so that if I don't have 150 people they will give me something in luie of the absent number of guests.  We are having our ceremony in the Pallazzo and the reception in the Skylight (it gives me chills).  The service is great, they are easy to work with and very very professional and the Chef is awesome.  Bottom line is you really get what you pay for.  I also beleive that if you are creative the Merion can make you an event that is anything but cookie cutter. 

    I say tell your cousin the trip down will be worth it just go and check it out.  Schedule a few places for the same day and take a look at 3 or 4 and go from there.  But if she doesn't go see it she will regret it.  It's really an amazing place.

    I'm having my wedding at the Merion On a Saturday evening in November of this year, and I was quoted $144 for the EMpire and Palazzo Rooms, and $160 for the Skylight and Palace rooms.  Do it quick if you want it, because it was almost full when I went there in September or so.

    I'm having my wedding at the Merion this September in the Skylight room.  We're having it on a Friday night and we're paying $134 pp, however I was told that there was no price difference between any of the rooms. 
    I hear nothing but great things about the Merion and the amount of food they offer for the price exceeded any other venue we looked into by far... and we've heard the food is amazing :)
