NEY MD - Skin Stuff

So last night BF and I realized that I have these strange red patches on the sides of my stomach, as well as a few on my back. They're red and a little scaly, sort of like dry skin. BF and my roommate think it's some kind of rash/allergic reaction but they don't itch.

We put some lotion on it last night and they look a little less angry today but I'm still confused as to what this could be. The non-itching is puzzling...

Re: NEY MD - Skin Stuff

  • Can you take a picture? Are they round?

  • The 2 bigger ones (about the size of the first joint on my pinkie) are oval shaped and the little ones are round.

  • Could be eczama or just try skin patches

  • Yea my guess would be eczema.  You could take an oatmeal bath. I'm not sure what kind of ointment (if any) you could put on them, I have a prescription for mine because I have it so frequently.

  • Sounds like dry skin or eczema to me too. I imagine a gentle moisturizer would help.

    Life is good today.
  • The lotion helped a little. I guess I always thought ezcema was itchy.

Thanks ladies, I guess that was sort of a no-brainer :)

  • Google "Pityriasis Rosea". I had it for about 2-3 months before it went away. It covered my stomach and back and started going down my arms. I was diagnosed at the urgent care with hives but it obviously wasn't so I went to my regular doctor and this is what it was. Completely normal, don't know what caused it, it just appeared. I soaked myself in hydrocortisone really seemed to help and avoid hot water only makes it worse. Hope this helps!
  • Regular lotion makes all my skin problems worse, so I'd say if it's lotion, it's probably just some dry skin from the winter.

My BF has something kinda like that on his hands and his doc claims it's due to him being on prednisone (which I kinda doubt, because he's been on prednisone since he was 2...) - he uses Eucerin and it works pretty well.  It's pricey as heck though, get the generic ;)
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
