DIY Centerpiece Mock Up (sorta...)

So I was at Ross today & found the CUTEST (I think so anyway, lol) ideas for centerpieces. They are wrought iron bicycle planters. Each one is a little different which I love too. Our budget is pretty small, so we were trying to find cute centerpieces we could do without breaking the bank with fresh flowers & I think we found it! They were very inexpensive & now all we'll need is something to fill them with & some candle to accent the table. I think they're a cute "touch of spring" for a March wedding (technically Winter... but living in Florida it's Spring to me lol)  I mocked it up with some fake crap we have at home, I like the draped look but not the plants themselves. Anyway, I know I'm a LONG way out, but I'm trying to buy things as I find them so I don't have a huge bill all at once come closer to wedding day. Let me know what you think! :) (Even if you think they're horribly tacky... I still have receipts if it is unanimous this is a TERRIBLY TACKY idea. haha)

The bicycles are cute however I am not sure how they are going to look on a table.  How big are your tables?  You also have to take the height of them into consideration... they look like that are at the height that your guests heads will be which makes it hard for people to chat at the table.  If it is hard for people to chat or to see the person on the other side of the table your guests will end up moving them.  It is best to either have something very low or about 17 inches off the table.

They're cute and I look at them every time I go to Ross!! Hahah! However, I think the previous comment was right on with the height consideration. They may be too high for a centerpiece, but you could totally use them throughout the rest of the reception as accent decoration...maybe on a gift table, escort card table....that kind of idea. They're too cute to pass up! =)

I agree that they would probably be better as accent pieces, maybe on the table where your gifts and card box will go or something like that. I think it would get in the way of conversation and take up too much table, as Jess said. Cute though!

Agree, accent vs. center pieces. You could do "planters" on the tables to go with the bikes. I know they, Ross, has wire planters all the time. Fill them with the mossy stuff and some greenery in pots or potted plants in painted clay pots...depending of course on the overall theme of the reception. A "spring" theme lends itself to lots of choices. If you LOVE the bikes use them as your "inspiration" and go from there.

Wow, how did I miss that? Just looking at the pictures it's clear from the placement of the chairs they would be much too high! On the bright side (possibly) they vast majority of them are not that high. They are more "planters" with the bike part on the front... I'll have to take a picutre to show you. I saw some of the bigger ones (like the one shown) and got really excited since they were so cute & picked out a few of those... bad idea. haha I will have to bring the other ones to the center & see though because another good point was brought up, they may not be enough to "fill" a 10 person table. Hmmm lots to think about. Maybe I was a little impulsive walking out of Ross with 3 shopping carts full of bike planters! LOL Luckily I've got the reciept. Thanks SO much ladies, sometimes you just miss the obvious. *smacks forehead* haha
