has anyone done unique save-the-dates they are willing to share, or seen anything really unique or innovative? Alot of my friends have already gotten married and i dont want my save the date to be 'just another'. With saying that, I also dont think I can afford to send cookie save the dates or dvd ones.... thanks for any ideas!

We're going to do a postcard or magnet probably. I've seen one in a magazine where they did a little flipbook thing of pictures showing the save the date - super cool, but probably pretty expensive too.

Do you have any theme for your wedding? Or anything that the two of you like to do together? We could probably brainstorm something!

One idea I had that won't work out was the make it a movie poster - "Coming on April 6, 2013, Erin & RJ". You could try that, but in smaller form?

This was the first STD magnet that we sent out when we first got engaged. We ended up canceling that date, but I still LOVE this concept. I believe I found it somewhere on this site long ago, but don't remember who originally posted it.

The second one I found on etsy and we had postcards printed through zazzle.

Thanks guys, great ideas! I also like the idea of having a balloon save the date that you blow up, however I still love having a picture of us and something they can keep! Here is a save the date I came across and im trying to figure out how i can have the cardstock/picture and the balloon without going overboard? have the save the date printed with our picture on card stock or magnet or whatever, and then attach to the bottom a balloon for them to blow up? im making this complicated, huh!?

If I was doing STD's I would have done a scratch off one, where you have to scratch off to see the dates. They are pretty easy to DIY; and we actually just received one a few weeks ago from another couple!

My FI is a ticket broker and we enjoy going to concerts together, listening to live music, etc. So, we did a concert ticket. We love how it turned out and it was fun designing them! We just sent them out 2 weeks ago and so many people have commented on them and how they were so "us" so we're very happy! The scratched out parts are our last names.

We didn't do an engagement photo shoot. So, there really wasn't a high quality photo to include. Plus.. i'm not sure people would want to keep our mugs on their fridge for the next five years. I found this great Dr. Seuss quote (which, may not actually be Dr. Seuss at all, but I'm just going with it here). And edited a drawing from The Lorax to fit what I wanted. This is just a draft still, but I think we're going with this theme.

Those are all such fun ideas! Will have to talk to FI for something more fun maybe...hopefully should be easy since he just complained a Save The Date we received yesterday was too boring with just the photo on the front.
