Suggestions for a venue

I am recently engaged, and we don't even have a date set, but I've been trying to figure out a venue. We originally were going to just go to the courthouse but I thought I'd regret not wearing a wedding dress. We are now thinking of having a small wedding with immediate family and close friends only. There will be about 30 people not including the 2 of us maximum. I am having issues trying to find a place that is small enough. I've been looking at areas in Door County, Lake Geneva and Milwaukee. We would for sure be having it in fall since we love the colors of the leaves, so I'm not sure if having it outdoors would be a good idea. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I had an outdoor fall wedding and it was beautiful!  If you do go that route, make sure your location has a back-up plan (a room inside you can use in case of rain or freezing temps).

I got married in Madison, so I don't have any specific suggestions...  but I'm sure some other ladies will.

    Happy planning!

I love Door County, I grew up in GB!
I have a friend that was married at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay, which was very beautiful....
Cave Point is GORGEOUS if you want something outdoors- it is a huge cliff/cave shore on lake michigan!
There are definetly going to be spots for you- check out Egg Harbor, Sister Bay, Ephraim, Fish Creek....all of those towns have nice resorts on the lakeshore and none of them are very big!
    Good Luck

Thank you both, we actually went to Sturgeon Bay this past October and took a trolley ride that picked us up at Stone Harbor Resort. It was beautiful, I'll definitely have to check it out.

I'm looking at Door County too!  I've found a few spots for smaller groups.  They are Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort, Stone Harbor, Bay Shore Inn, and The Orchid Inn Bed and Breakfast (All in Sturgeon Bay).  In Milwaukee there is the Villa Terrace, it's a beautiful restored historic mansion with a gorgeous garden and views of the lake.  In Lake Geneva there is Kirsch's Restaurant.  Those are the ones I have found for smaller groups.

I also found Music of the Lake but it is too small for me but would work for you.  Here is their website:

Looks like beautiful music and a beautiful location in Door County

Thank you so much Stef703! I was looking at the Villa Terrace too, but didn't know if it would work for my small group. I'll keep looking into it. I'll definitely check out your other suggestions too.

    Good luck planning your wedding!

If you do decide on Lake Geneva they actually have a "Cruise" boat you could get merried on. You can pick your boat, they accomodate anywhere from 10-200 people and the do your wedding, dinner and reception all while cruising around the lake. VERY romantic and unique!!

I had my reception at Hotel Metro on Zen on 7 (in downtown Milwaukee).  They fit 30-50 people there and you can have both the ceremony and reception in the same location.  There are also both indoor and outdoor spaces which people can mingle in interchangeably.  It was beautiful and had amazing places for photos!
