Alterations - David's Bridal?

I purchased my dress at David's, thus alterations are not included.  Do you recommend using their tailors? If not - does anyone have a good tailor in the Macomb area?!

Re: Alterations - David's Bridal?

  • I purchased my dress from Davids bridal too but they want like 300-350 dollars for alterations for my dress and I have heard that I could possibly get it done for cheaper and to just look around for small places like a dry cleaner or something and check References.

Best of luck to you Smile

  • I also got my dress at David's, but their alterations seemed on the high side. I have yet to find one to alter my dress, but have a reference from a friend.

My wedding dress was purchased from David's Bridal as well. My plan was was to orignally to get alterations for my dress done from them but after I found out how much it was going to cost I went for a second opinion. After searching around and posting on having to look for somewhere that did resonable priced alterations for my dress a lady on here reccomended me going to Marianne from Bombshell Bridal in St. Clair Shores. I had only three months to get my wedding dress done mind you that's difficult to find someone that would do that work in that short of time. All together for my dress to have alterations and hemming done cost me only $70 and I needed a lot of work done! I couldn't of been anymore happier with her. She worked on my mother in laws dress and my bridesmaid Crystals dress the same week of my wedding and it had done two days before my wedding. She only charged my mother in law and my bridesmaid only $30 dress for there dresses to be done. My mother in laws dress didn't need a lot of work but my bridesmaid Crystal did since she is only 5'1 and her dress had to be completely redone to fit her because David's Bridal gave her the wrong size at first for her dress and than finally got the dress the same week of her wedding. Marianne made sure that her dress fit her so well to where she was so comfortable.  She was also so happy with the end results for her dress. I'm telling you that Marianne is just so honest, helpful, caring, and down to earth lady. I couldn't of asked for a better lady to do my alterations for my dress. Plus all of our families, friends, co-workers, and family friends said my dress looked beautiful and it fit me so well!  All thanks to Marianne! If you want pictures I can share of before and after. The bridal shop number is (586)294-7280 if you need to have her actual private number they will share it with you. Good luck on finding someone hun!

  • DO NOT GET YOUR DRESS ALTERED AT DAVIDS!!! I too bought my dress there but took it elsewhere to get altered (Bella's Alterations in Livonia) and am so glad that I had made that decision. Last month I had my bridesmaid dress altered at the Novi location and they had to redo the hem 3 times because they couldn't get it straight- the hem! While I was waiting for them to repeatedly attempt to fix it they were working on a bride and they completely ruined her dress. The bride had an all lace dress and the lace layer was approximately 1" shorter in the front of her dress than the satin layers underneath...and the lace layer was too short so even if they took the satin layers up the new hem would be too short. TAKE YOUR DRESS SOME PLACE ELSE!!

  • I just got my reception dress altered at Bombshell. She did a great job and was very reasonable, give them a call!
