bridal shower activities?

The bride said she would rather people not bring gifts, so we are trying to figure out something else to do at the shower to fill up that block of time. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!!

Re: bridal shower activities?

  • Well the whole point of a shower is to bring gifts so I'm not sure why she would want a bridal shower at all. I would have her rethink that because people are going to be confused when they get invited to a bridal shower and then asked to not bring a gift.

If you are still looking for things to do there are plenty of websites out there with shower games. I'm not a big fan of shower games so I don't have any suggestions.

  • They already have everything they need for setting up their house... so they are going to have a "honeymoon tree" at the shower/wedding. It'll be like a money tree, but for the honeymoon. =)    We are not really fans of shower games either...that's why we are trying to think of something else to do.

<div>I will warn you that this may not go over well with her guests. People don't like being hit up for money, they like to pick out their own gifts and lots of people may find this idea tacky. If they don't register people will probably give them money anyways, but no one wants to be asked to give money. </div><div>
</div><div>I suggest trying to talk her out of the shower. There's really no reason here to have one. Sorry.</div>

  • Showers are for showering the bride with physical presents, not extorting cash from your guests.

That sound absolutely awful and rude. No one should have a tree for money at a wedding, no matter the purpose. Depending how close you are to the bride, I might mention to her that this can come across as rude (well it IS rude but you might want to soften the blow) and that many guests might be offended.

As for the shower, if she doesn't want gifts, she doesn't get a shower. I would not hesitate to tell her this. She should have declined it in the first place, but since she didn't and you are hosting it, I would tell her that you would still love to host a shower, but if you are hosting it, guests will be bringing gifts b/c that's the point of a shower. If she is vehemently against that, then suggest a shower may not be for her.
