Pennsylvania-Philadelphia

hey ladies!

hi ladies!

glad to be here! my name is ray & my fiance's is ross. we're getting married next summer (late july or early august) in either south/central jersey or philadelphia. we are both students, so we are on a strict budget.

right now, we're just trying to find a place within our budget. i've contact hundreds of venues. right now, i'm focusing on trying to find a place! so many venues are deceptively affordable, but then you add tax & gratuity & you're broke. is it possible to find a beautiful place that's not $120pp in the philly area?! lol

also, my fiance & i are in a long distance relationship. he lives 3.5 hours away. not to mention we're planning our wedding from 8 hours away, so it makes it difficult to plan the way i really would like to.

anyway, just wanted to say hi & i'm excited to be around these parts :)

Congrats & welcome! What exactly would you like to spend pp? Are you open to Fridays or Sundays? It might be hard to get under $120 pp in center city but can be doable outside the city. Also maybe try posting on the South Jersey board as well.

    Welcome!
I hear you on the long distance I planned my wedding from London.
I hated that placed advertised their "price" but didn't ad in tax and grat, I feel this is an important part of the price, kinda like how airlines add on fuel wtf I feel that's part of the ticket.

It really depends on what you want.  I know P&P gets a lot of good recs.., Brizzie had her wedding in Chestnut Hill I forget the name, but I know she spent less than $100 pp.

thanks for the insight! it doesn't have to be center city. i just mean the greater philadelphia area.

we'd like to keep it all inclusive for ceremony & reception at $80pp. we've actually found a number of places to do this, but i'm still looking for the perfect space since pictures online definitely aren't always what it looks like in person.

our top choices right now are blair mill inn & the versailles ballroom in toms river. i love the versailles, but it's far for my family. about an hour and a half away. but either way, people are going to have to travel. if i have it in philly, his family will have to travel an hour and a half, too.

    thank you for the help!

i have researched p&p caterers, too. i will check out the place in chestnut hill. i live(d) right around there, so that would be nice that my family wouldn't have to travel far.

Checked out P&P. Prices are good, but I don't have enough guests to get one of the nicer rooms...

& there's nowhere to do a ceremony. We could do it at the tables, but I'm sort of against that.

Any other recommendations? I think we might book in Toms River, then. Philadelphia and South Jersey don't seem to have what I'm looking for.
