Body by V shakes?

I just ordered some body by V shakes, and I was wondering if anyone of y'all have used these shakes.  I am currently working out, and I would like to lose another 10 pounds by my wedding in August.  I am a stress eater so I thought the shake would help me cut down on that a bit.  I have a little bit of an end of the semester stress to work off too.

Re: Body by V shakes?

  • The shakes alone are not enough cals.  Someone I am friends with on FB is a distributor and she's lost a lot of weight BUT you need to supplement with other healthy food options to meet your calorie goals.  Sure, you might drop weight quickly but it is not in a healthy way if you aren't eating enough and then you WILL gain it all back and probably very quickly.

Honestly, the shakes are about 90 cals so I would use those as a snack and just pick healthier meals to eat throughout the day.  Use myfitnesspal or another site to log in the amount of calories you take in and burn on a daily basis to make sure you are getting enough (myfitnesspal will calculate that for you).  Also, maribeth... if you are looking at this what was that BMR site you posted awhile ago?  <--- Said site is helpful in figuring out daily calories for maintenance etc. when working out regularly.

  • ibarr is right.

Plus, my mom didn't listen to me and ordered the program  where she has supplements and a shake for breakfast every day.  She finally quit after 3 weeks and a 10 lb gain.  Yep.  She gained on that junk.

There really is no substitute for healthy, clean eating.  SparkPeople.com is really good for calorie counting the easy way.
  • I do have a normal regular healthy mostly whole foods diet, I will probally do a shake and a nice snack.
  • Do you know how many calories you should be eating?  Do you know how many you burn?  If not, look into it.  This could be why you are still not seeing good results with healthy eating.

... and drink the shake as a snack and not a meal replacer... in the long run it wont be of any benefit.  I like to look at the long vs. short term and I'd rather lose weight a little slower but keep it off then lose a lot fast and have it all come back (because losing a lot fast is NOT sustainable for your bod)
  • I use them. I've lost 35+lbs since the beginning of the year but I also eat balanced snacks and regular meals as well as workout an hour a day 6 days a week. They do work, they're nutrionally sound, I'm rarely hungry and I've taken time off from them a couple times and haven't gained anything back. If you're ONLY drinking the shakes that's not healthy and not enough daily calories. Plus you need to be smart using them, if you're mixing them with whole milk/mixing in high sugar/fat mix ins or eating crappy food all day as your supplements they're not going to help you. Or if when you stop using them you go back to your old habits obviously you'll gain back seeing as how that's how you gained in the first place. But they certainly can work, I fully believe in them.
