Gripes before 8am

Well it's 8:21 now. But, on the bus this morning, NO one moved for the 7 month pregnant lady. Not even the girls who catch the bus at the same stop. The girls who actually KNOW her due date and everything. (I am also one of these girls. I gave her my seat) It's like this every morning.

People who don't smile when you smile at them.

Parents who ignore their children when they're talking to them or crying.

Oh and the guy who sits at the back who has his music blaring so loud I can make out every word or beat. I hate that guy. 7am is too early to be blasting music like that.

Oh and the guy who likes to pick his nose. It's too bad because he's pretty good looking.

Our puppy is driving me crazy. It's gotten to the point where I can't really enjoy being at home sometimes. This is making me really nervous about what it would be like to have kids.

I somehow managed to smash my knee on the car trunk this morning. While filling it with Thanksgiving food for a needy family. So I stood in the street for a good five minutes screaming bloody murder and thinking about how karma makes no sense.

That's all I got.

Oh wait...I've got one. The fact that I have to go to the grocery store tonight and I *hate* going right before the holidays when it's packed. People are so friggin' rude.

Students that don't show up for peer editing just because it's almost Thanksgiving break. Out of my WRIT 101 class, I only had six people. Six. Out of 20. I got up at 6:15 for that?

Oh, AC reminded me of my grocery store vent...the crowds suck but what really bothers me is that our store has not had canned pumpkin on the shelf in my last month of trips there. WTF. It's Thanksgiving. And even if it wasn't, that stuff's just yummy.

Parents who ignore their children when they're talking to them or crying.

I hate when parents are in a restaurant, and their kids are screaming bloody murder, and they effin' ignore them.

This morning, I had to walk through a bake sale in the front hall of my building. Please don't step in front of me and insist I buy something. Especially that early in the morning. That's a good way to get punched, and no I don't want any damn cookies that I don't have cash for.

My dog pooped on the carpet last night and peed on the carpet the night before.

We've had him for six weeks. He's smart and has learned "sit" and "shake" already. But he is just not getting the hang of "hold it and scratch at the door." And we take him out every 2-3 hours, on a schedule, give him treats...it just doesn't seem to be getting better. Ack.

Brie, how old is your puppy? Even though mine can be super annoying at times, he very rarely has accidents, so I should count my blessings. (Watch - I'll go home tonight and there will be poop and pee all over his crate). He's about 5 months old.

I've often wondered if the parents are ignoring the screaming spawn becuase they really are cluelss or if it's because they think they "should" ignore them so as to not reinforce negative actions by acknowledging them.

coco, he's a full-grown dog--about 2 years old. He was a puppy mill rescue from a shelter, though, so he's never really lived in a home environment before.

Oddly enough, he is perfectly crate trained. We leave him in it while we're at work and he's fine and holds it. But we don't want to crate him during the day AND at night. Usually FI hears the dog get out of the bed and lets him out in the middle of the night then, but if he doesn't the dog won't wait.

I just feel like I'm failing as a dog owner. I don't want to be one of those people who lets their dog crap all over the house, but he's just not catching on.

Brie - I see. Poor thing. You're not failing as a dog owner, though. There are probably some house-breaking tricks out there, but I think if you just keep doing what you're doing, he'll eventually get it.

Its almost 11am here but ill bite.

My co-worker needs to take some fucking allergy medicine. He has been sneezing VERY loudly, clearning his throat and making weird noises all morning. Its annoying the bloody hell out of me. Ontop of his talking to himself and listening to sermons online, I want to kick puppies.

I think it's OK to do this for a few weeks while he get the hang of housebreaking. If the crate is right next to your bed and he can hear you breathing, it still counts as "pack time" for Millhouse.

As unpopular as this opinion may be, sometimes you have to. For your own sanity. Not all the time. But, sometimes. Like how you ignore your DH or FI.

Brie- I thought Quincy would never get it. Finally I just started taking him out every 45 minutes to an hour and saying "lets go outside-be a good boy!" Then once we were out "hurry up, be a good boy" then of course "good boy!". It was tiring but it finally seemed to do it.

I think I have a sinus infection. Possible TMI, but my sinuses are draining and it's dripping down my throat and making me wanna hurl. And Thanksgiving is at my house this year. So I'm sick and I've got a ton of food to make. And both of my parents are sick as well. Whining over.

I'm full of gripes. I'm starting to wonder why we even have school the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving. These kids are being freaking little hellions. We're watching a video about J. K. Rowling, which is interesting even if you haven't read Harry Potter, but seriously. I can't do anything BUT watch a video these two days. Nothing would get done. They're crazy.

I know what you mean about not wanting to be a bad dog owner, but sometimes you HAVE to crate them at night too. That's the point of it, so they don't go where they sleep. If all he has to do is get out of bed and poop on the floor, there's nothing stopping him from doing it. I know it sounds mean, but that's how crate training works from my understanding. We still get up in the middle of the night to let him outside since he can't go that long, but with a 2 year old, the length of time he can physically hold it is a lot longer, he just needs motivation to not go, which is what the crate is.

PS I feel your pain, ours is still a puppy, but sometimes he drives me nuts. He tried to pee on our new carpet 10 minutes after the carpet installers left. I freaked out on the poor dog.

Everyone is grouchy here in my office. It's the weather - thunderstorms this morning, and temperature has dropped a lot (meaning all joints hurt). Does wonders for my mood.

And apparently, the office blowhard is on a tear, so the department meeting should be a joy to take minutes for.

Brie - I think the fact that you were kind enough to take in a rescue dog, especially one with such a rough history is enough proof that you aren't a bad pet owner. Just keep working with him and being patient and he will come through. Old habits die hard and all that stuff. Good luck with it!

Oh, and my complaint is that my FI's grandparents came over last night to see our house. They showed up 40 minutes late with no explanation or apology, griped that our address isn't clearly visible from the street before they even got inside the house and then continued to piss me off the rest of the night. I got made fun of b/c Zach did the grilling (burgers) and he must OBVIOUSLY be the cook in the family (yeah he is, so what?), she made fun of my brother and his wife to me, and then she told me it'll be hilarious to watch me pregnant some day and that it will be funny to watch us try to be parents b/c I won't have a clue what to do.

This woman LIKES me too, she just has no filter and no common sense. I have to see her oldass again in 2 days too. Happy f'ing thanksgiving to me!

Have you tried the bell trick yet? When we were potty training Tootsie we hung a bell with a long piece of string on the door knob. Each time we took her out we'd make her touch her nose to the bell before we opened the door. She learned very quickly that if she rang the bell we took her potty... Only bad part is she would do it sometime when she didn't have to potty so she could go outside and play lol

Every time I quit smoking I have a sore throat. I could definitely do without the negative reinforcement of my smoking habit. Also my work data from yesterday isn't available yet which makes me cranky because I can't really do anything, even if I wanted to.

I know - it sucks! My FI was telling me yesterday that Libby (they produce most of the canning pumpkin in the US) has their crops get hit hard by an early frost. Apparently, it ruined over 90% of the pumpkins! So this may be a very long, pumpkin-less holiday season.
