Live music question

Maybe this is a dumb question but it's something I can't seem to work out in my mind. Are any of you ladies using live music for your reception? If you are, who MCs?

The owner of our venue has offered to have his jazz band play the wedding for an amazing price. But now I just keep thinking about who will announce the first dance and the cake cutting.... and well, everything. I haven't talked to him yet but I figured I'd ask all of you if you know how this works.

Does the band do it? Or do I need to investigate hiring someone to MC the reception? And how on earth would I go about finding that if it's needed?

    Typically - if you are having a band or any other type of live music, they do the MC'ing.  You shouldn't have to hire a separate person.  If they've done wedding and other events before, they should be used to stuff like that.  There is usually a dedicated person.

    So it really was a dumb question. But on the upshot, now I know to double check when we talk to the guy again about hiring the band! One more thing to add to my growing list of questions.

    Don't worry, personally I predict my photographer will get annoyed by me first. He has gotten a lovely balance of my worrying over details (like my glasses with their transition lenses in outdoor pictures) to dumb looks when he asks basic questions like "Are you two going to see each other before the wedding? (Still don't know the answer, by the way!)
