Programs on my computer have been freezing which is really really hindering the whole finishing the thesis thing.  And now the whole freaking computer freezes so I lost some more work!!!  (Silly me I only hit save every 5 min or so instead of every 30 seconds!)

I want to smash my computer into little tiny pieces and stomp on them.  Like this...



Anyone else want to rant/vent about something?

    My computer keeps freezing up too.  I will join you in the field.  Would you like for me to bring the bat?  We can listen to "Still" while we're reinacting the scene and everything.

    Can you set the program you work on to auto save every so often?  We use WordPerfect at work (I think only the legal field uses this anymore) and I have it set to autosave every 30 seconds so that if the computer crashes it has a backup copy for me.

    Do you have vista? My computer seems to be having an issue with vista and freezes up every 5 mins or so.

    Chris said if you'd like to bring it tomorrow he can see if he can fix it, but if it's a vista issue, there will be no luck :o(

    Bridgefright - sounds good, you bring the bat, I'll put on my pig boots and stomp on it

    Beth - It tries to autosave but that doesn't work right.  It just makes these temporary files that are in some weird format that can't be opened with the program.  That makes absolutely no sense to me but whatever.

    Beka - I have Windows 7.  Which was the start of a bunch of random problems with the Microsoft Office programs.  Like several months of the awesome "sharing violation" message so I couldn't do "Save" I had to "Save As," so at the end of the day I'd have File, File1, File2, ..., File 12.  I'll just continue backing my computer up on the external hard drive everyday until the thesis is done.  If I lost what's done of my thesis, I'd just cry and quit, I swear.

    Man, that really bites a big one!!! 

    on a side note, just want to say that I LOVE Office Space.  Great movie!

    Hmm...I had that same issue with my laptop. I took it to the Apple store and got some bad news. My hard drive is failing. Hope your computer doesn't have the same issue.

    I feel that way with my computer at work atelast 5 times a day... my current issue is that no websites work (I'm honestly surprised TK is working) but literally all of our programs are web based and hardly none of them are working.

    I work on the 6th floor, right beside a window, so I often just want to throw it out the window on a daily basis.
