Question for you DIY Ladies!

I've noticed that some of you DIY ladies have said that you're working on centerpieces, and decor, and ceremony stuff already
my question is-- Where in the world are you storing this stuff??  aren't you worried that they'll get smushed or dusty while in storage??
I hadn't planned on doing my DIY stuff til next spring!!  The only real thing I've been doing as far as centerpieces/decor is I started collecting unique vases from thrift stores and garage sales but those along are taking up a bunch of room!!

Re: Question for you DIY Ladies!

  • I've taken over one of the spare bedrooms in our house as the "Wedding War Room". I have boxes alllllll over in there. We're fortunate enough to have a large house, so not only am I storing stuff for my wedding, I have stuff for my sister's wedding next month laying around.

I've been using boxes and large plastic storage bins to keep everything clean and protected. I've also tried to keep the boxes pretty well organized, so the decorations are separate from my craft supplies and such.

  • I have things in big rubermaid bins with the lids in our basement. We don't have a ton of room in our apartment to store it but we have unlimited storage in the basement. I'm trying to keep tags on the lids with what's in there but we'll see how organized I stay as I gather more things.

Thankfully I have a spare bedroom and that is the official 'Wedding Room' now. I will be doing a lot of DIY, but anything that I do before wil be something that can sit for a while and not easily damaged. Things like burlap table runners, painted small tin pails, wooden signs, etc. For my centerpieces I want to do a flower arrangement in mason jars. Thankfully the FMIL does a lot of canning so has plenty of jars already stored and out of the way. But if we decide to use silk flowers, I won't start on them until next spring as I'm afraid stuff like that will get damaged.
  • My crap is all over the apartment. I suspect it will only get worse. haha

  • We have a really big closet that I keep everything stored in. I'm just putting everything in totes. I'm not doing centerpieces just small things like banners and signs that are very easily stored.

  • I have a spare bedroom and a craft room in my basement. I've been working on things in the basement and storing them in the closet of the spare bedroom.

  • I'm lucky, FI has a house with an extra bedroom.  I'd really be jacked if he didn't have his own house because my house is full of my crap that I'm currently trying to weed through to make room for FIs crap next year, LOL.  So the "Wedding War Room" (LOL I just LOVE that term) is at his house.

  • I'm taking advantage of my old bedroom at my dads. He also has three sheds on the property so our big stuff is filling up his shed lol. He gives me the "what now?" thing but seems to not mind too much, he knows it's temporary. To clarify, I have a big wooden spool, four brewery barrels, a barn door and two old windows sitting up there that obviously has no room in our 700sq.ft. apartment My in progress DIY sits in our apartment so i really try to do something in full to get it up to my dads so it isn't taking up so much room.

  • The store I work in has a loft area in the back which is unused, so I am allowed to store my stuff up there. I just wrap and store it carefully, label the boxes, and keep it up there. It's great because it's not in our way, yet I can get stuff done early.

  • We are keeping everything in rubbermaid bins with lids too. The guest bedroom has become the Wedding Room in our apartment too. But somehow things have spilled into the dinning room too. There is so much stuff everywhere I don't even feel like decorating for Christmas

  • You ladies are on top of it. I was nervous about getting all my stuff early but now I feel better. I'm just gathering material that will be needed but not putting stuff together yet. I have a big house with a huge walk in closet that my FI is trying to take over. I do believe he's going to win and I'll be storing the wedding stuff in bins in the garage.
