Blank Space to rent for reception in the suburbs

Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a venue in or near Dupage County(or just the suburbs in general) that is just a blank space. I am trying to plan a reception localy after our destination wedding and it is a blending of cultures. So I'm looking for a place that doesn't require me to cater through them. Seems as though every place I can find online is a banquet hall type place that will not allow ANY outside food at all. I am open to ANYTHING. Churches, VFW, Park District, etc. I don't need a fancy place. Just something that will hold a ton of people(up to maybe 400 or so) and let me bring my own food. If anyone has ANY suggestions I would be eternaly grateful. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

You might call your local park district or vfw hall for info. I am sure they will be pretty affordable. There may be some union halls to as well that rent out there space.

Give the Wheaton community center a call. I know they have one very big room they rent pretty cheap. Not sure how they handle food but worth a call.

The American Legion allows food to be catered in.  I'm not sure if its considered Wheaton or Carol Stream but it's on Gary just off Geneva Rd.  Not sure tho about 400 people capacity.  Unless they allow you to rent the whole thing.  I know they did do some remodeling and adding on last spring so it may be bigger now.

We were married at Mayslake Peabody Estate in Ok Brook last September. You can bring in your own food and liquor. I used a caterer that brought everything in for the cost of the dinner (linen, china, glasswear, silverware, they will even set up your escort cards provide table numbers, and lots of other amenities) and they did a great job. I used them for my bar as well. All the service was FANTASTIC.

When you rent Mayslake no other events are scheduled on that day/evening. If you rent the whole place, it holds a LOT of people, but can get costly.

It is a DuPage Park District facility and is rich in history. check out their website:

You can even rent a tent and have the reception on their grounds.

Good Luck, PM me if you have more questions. They were great to work with, I worked with Alex and he never missed responding to one email within a few hours and I planned for almost 2 years.....
