To tan or spray tan?

I am a very pale bride to be and have about another month before my wedding! I have very limited time and not to sure about the tanning thing becuase I have never been before and don't really know how to do it as lame as that sounds. Thoughts on tanning or spray tanning in the janesville, WI area? Advice and suggestions greatly appreciated!

    I didn't do either.  I am naturally pale, so I didn't think it would look like "me" to have a tan for the wedding.

    I did a spray tan for my SIL's wedding.  I was considerably pale as well, the spray tan turned out great and I wasn't orange or anything.  I can't help you as far as places to go where you live, but if you do go with spray tan try sooner rather than later just in case.  And listen to what the salon workers tell you, and remember if you end up a little blotchy it can be "buffed" out.

    Don't even think about going into a tanning bed - even going once increases your chances for skin cancer.  Spray tans are the way to go for sure.  If you'd rather not go to get sprayed, there are many good at-home versions available, however, that's a little riskier because you're doing it yourself, color may be blotchy/uneven, etc.  I would try it out waaaay ahead of time and see how things work; if things aren't how you want, there's enough time for it to wash off before your wedding.

    I would say do a spray tan.

    Also, I forgot to mention, if you're pale and want to have a glow, but not necessarily tan, consider looking into a daily moisturizing lotion that has a little color and gradually makes you darker as you use it.  This is a good option because you won't look so different from your normal self, and it's an easier transition (in my opinion!) for your regular life (meaning that one day, you'd be your normal pale, and the next day look like you just returned from the Bahamas.  The lotion would allow you to gradually get a little tanner...it's more subtle.)

    I would reccomend spray tan. I'm not a fan of tanning beds. I am pale, and do not tan quickly. I am a frequent spray tanner. Here are some reccomendations: Find a salon that does airbrush spray tan, or I reccomend Mystic Tan spray tan. It works great and is super fast and easy. I looked up this location from the Mystic tan website: Paradise Island Tanning Salon in Janesville. Mystic tan gives you three shades to choose from, which is nice. Don't go out and get the lotions in target or Walmart if you have never used them before. Usually the cheaper tanning lotiions make me orange and become flakey and weird looking after awhile.

    Keep in mind, spray tan will rub off on your dress! they are nice but if you are super picky about the the area where your underarms rub against your dress, this may not be the option for you. Do not start tanning in a bed now, it's too late for that.

    I did the spray tan for my cousins wedding and it looked wonderful! but..... my bra and dress turned orange/brown and didnt come out! it rubbed off on the dress by the top line so you could tell that I had it done if you looked at my dress :( and in the pics it looked kinda funny but in person everone thought I went on vacation! lol I would go natural or just hit the tanning beds! Good luck!

    Spray tan should not rub off on clothing, unless you do it day of and are sweating/getting wet. It is reccomended not to sweat or shower for 24 hrs.

    i had to laugh at the last line. "its not reccomended to sweat for 24 hrs!" when i do sweat (normally in very hot weather or when i'm extremley nervous...) i have no control over it!

    on another note- thanks for posting this. i was considering the spray tan since i am very very pale and afraid of tanning beds and cancer. (i suffer from claustrophobia.) my wedding is novemeber 5th. after reading the responses, i have decided to just go natural.

    i have heard that any off-white dress (almond, ivory, ect) will make pale brides look less pale- don't know how true this is. maybe ask your photographer if there's something they can do to "tone" down any paleness in the photo shots. its amazing what photo software can do these days.

    personally, i would love to look AMAZING in my pictures, but i think the part of me that wishes to LOOK LIKE MYSELF is more important than looking like a pretty somebody that I don't recognize in the mirror. the "tan" look was never my thing. why should it be any different on my wedding day? i think i would even dissapoint my <em>fiancé</em>. (i could just hear him say, "gosh what did you do with becky?") i will still look pretty- but just pale- like i always do in photos. i'm okay with that now after reading about the possibility of looking like i came from the bahamas!

    I did a spray tan for our wedding.  And also for my bach. party.  And I LOVED IT. I did the Mystic Tan and was really happy with the results. 


    There's no way it should rub off.  You do have to get it done the night before and can't shower for 8 hours after you get it on, but it's worth it. You wake up tan. 


    You will not see immediate results - they will show up about 2-3 hours later. 


    This was way better than tanning in a booth - I've stopped that because I don't want to risk getting skin cancer or wrinkles. ;)


    I got mine done at J&N Tanning in Racine.
