Snarky?

You all don't seem snarky. Am I wrong? Is this the place where I can be really crotchity, snappish, sarcastic, irreverent? Rather, is this the place where I can just be myself?

<div>I hate the word snarky.  I really do wish the Knot Gods would change the board name.</div><div>
</div><div>But seriously, come on in.  Be yourself.  No need to be an asshole just for the sake of being one but if someone deserves it, have at it.</div><div>
</div><div>And who might "yourself" be?  Care to tell us a bit about yourself? You can ask me anything.</div>
  • I'm not particularly snarky. I have a weird irrational fear of hurting people's feelings.

Mostly I post here because this board has a smaller number of regs, so I felt more comfortable. Kind of like joining a table of 5 or 6 in the cafeteria, as opposed to one of twenty.

What do you do for a living? When is/was your wedding? Any pets?

  • I'm relatively new to posting consistantly and this board has been fun so far. Just join in, the regs don't bite :)

Anna, if memory serves, you're pretty young, right? I'm 22 and we're planning on getting married next year. How was your exprience with getting married young? (if you are in fact the person I'm thinking of!)

    <div>Nope.  I'm early 30's. </div><div>
</div><div>All my IRL friends married young.  Don't worry about  your age.  Just worry about your future  ;)

People in their 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's and beyond...  marry the wrong people or for wrong reasons.  If you're secure in your love, don't mind what other people might say.  It's all about you two.  However, bring a mom or older person with you shopping.  Some of the old bats at some salons and boutiques don't treat people right unless there is a visual authority figure.  A few of my friends learned that the hard way.  Dumb people who don't want to deal with "little girls".  SO dumb.</div>
  • Hi NYCMercedes, welcome to the board! I just introduced myself today. So far everyone has been anything but snarky.

Anna, that's interesting about bringing an older woman with you for trying on dresses. I never experienced that prejudice, but the only people I brought with me to try stuff on was my mom and FMIL. Though I certainly do feel the age discrimination when shopping for other things. I'm in my late 20's (getting a little too close to 30 for my liking), but I look a bit younger than I am. I can definitely tell that sometimes when I walk into a store that the sales people don't think of me as serious buyer.

I never thought of it that way, but I get the same thing. People think I'm anywhere from 6-14 years younger than I actually am, so I feel like I'm not taken as seriously. <div>
</div><div>And hi Mercedes! Nice to meet you. I'm a fairly infrequent poster these days, but I like to pop in and say hey. The board has lost a lot of its "snark" lately. ;)</div>
  • I look young too. When I taught high school I had to always wear my teacher badge because I would get mistaken for a student. The joys of teaching in such a big district you never learn who all the other teachers are and visa versa. Hmm.

Anyhoo, welcome. Just be yourself, that's cool. I joined this board during the summer when the mass exodus occured. I came out of lurkdom. This board is actually pretty chill.

<div>I remember the mass exodus of regulars this summer, especially on the e-board. I feel like it happened around my wedding and honeymoon and I missed the reason why everyone left. Was there a big reason? </div>

<div>The basic gist is that people were tired of TK glitching all the time, and the strict censorship. There was a bunch of drama that happened just prior to it as well, but they left mostly because of the censorship...I think.</div><div>
</div><div>I almost got yelled at by a teacher for writing my name on his classroom board when I was subbing after college. He thought I was a student. :P</div>

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Snarky? : I almost never post on this board, but I'm 22 too and will be getting married 10 days before my 23rd birthday :) Compared with my other friends who have gotten married at a later age than I,<strong> I don't think there is too much of a difference in a 22 year old getting married and a 30 year old. </strong>People make mistakes regardless of their ages. Though I do have to say, I haven't really had any sort of age discrimination from vendors yet but I also look older than 22, so that could be a factor.

<div>I'm going to respectfully disagree, but I totally don't want to start a debate. You can't label anyone as anything, but as a whole, I was a nightmare when I was 22. </div><div>FYI I got married at 27.</div>

Yeah me too, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.  I know it's different for everyone, but there is no way I would have been ready for marriage at 22!  I was still in university and didn't have any money anyways LOL...oh yeah, and I was kind of dating someone completely wrong for me.
    I'm 29.
