Football delimma

Does anyone else have conflict w a football schedule? I just booked my venue yesterday and people started asking about if I had checked the football schedule. Of course since I dont do football I didn't think of it, but there is a home game the day of. I'm worried not many people will come (we don't have that many over the room minimum) or I'm worried people will be upset that they have to miss the game since it's important to them. There will be TV though. It's an OSU game, people get crazy. Lol. A lot of my friends won't be coming anyways bc it's a faire day (I normally work at the renaissance festival) but I knew that . (his family is from another state and i picked the day so they could stay and visit for a while longer since if does t get to see them much). Anyways, yeah.... Football? Lol

Hopefully the people that truly care about you and your FI will think that your wedding is more important than a football game.  Then again, I'm not that into sports so I guess I don't see a reason to pick football over going to someone's wedding LOL.  I wouldn't stress too much over it.

  • I agree with trawas...they can DVR the game.  If they are supposed to be playing in the game, that may be a little different though.

  • My friend's wedding was during the Phillies Playoff game... people with smart phones updated the score - it all worked out, and she still had everyone come.

The people in your life should be more important than sports.

  • My wedding is a OSU football game day to...its an away game so I know probably n  one wlill go. You could always see if the bar area has a T.V. or have the DJ give updates. Most people will understand, I'm a huge Buckeyes fan (and Alumni) so I understand the crazy, I think they will pick you over a football game :)

  • I am not too worried about the football game. I am more worried about baseball playoffs. I might need to get updates through the I phone lol.

  • I need to check the Clemson  schedule. The hotel where we will spend that night and I will be getting ready is near the school and I know if there is a home game I need to book early.

  • I'm marrying an OSU alumni and one of the first questions I got asked was about tv's at the reception for football (he was told no). Your wedding date isn't the game against "the team up north" so hopefully it won't be too big of a deal.

We're both big football fans (different teams though) and if we have something important going on during a game we just follow it with text updates. As long as your venue isn't near the shoe I wouldn't worry too much.

My FI and I (and the big majority of our friends) aren't in to college sports as much, and are more the kind who will just watch the bowl games this time of year (none of us went to big "sports" schools), so I wasn't worried. We are big NFL people, though, so I hope we're not missing a great Giants game the next day when we're getting back on the road and saying goodbye to everyone! :) Best of luck, and hopefully everyone gets their DVR programmed for the game and can enjoy your wedding!

  • I'm waiting for Clemson too. If there is a home game at noon we are screwed because our people will be traveling in the middle of the traffic to the game. Also if there is a home game we will have to book out of town people in Greenville
  • If anyone starts to give you crap about having to choose between your wedding and a football game you should remind them that your wedding is a one time thing.  There will be other football games. You can tell them that you're working on ways to have the score announced or possibly a TV somewhere.  I've got some moderate Buckeye fans in my family and I plan on having the DJ announce score updates if necessary.  Fortunately most of our families are more into the NFL than college football.

    Good luck
