video or no video??

Hi ladies,
I need your advice.  How many of you are doing a wedding video?  My FI is not sold on the idea but I thought if I could find something cheap he might be game.  So many people have told me I will regret not having one but we spent quite a bit on our photos so...I am looking for something under a  thousand.  I've found a few places that will give you unedited for this price.  I'm not crazy about that idea either.  Let me know your thoughts!
TIA

At first, we weren't planning to do videography, either... but I kept reading/hearing about people who regretted not doing the video. The more I thought about it, the more convinced I became that we should indeed try to find an affordable videographer.

Try Alissa Grace weddings out of Warwick for a really reasonable price. They charge about $900 for up to 6 hours of edited video, or $650 for just the raw footage. Here's the website: http://www.alissagraceweddings.com/pricing/. You can also check in with Provizion Video. They have edited packages starting at $779, or if you just want coverage of the ceremony, it's only $399 for that. Here's Provizion's website: http://www.provizionvideo.com/#!pricing. My fiance and I are looking into both of these and will probably go with one of them.

We didn't do it. I couldn't find anyone whose work I liked enough for the price I could afford. (Some in my range who were decent were already booked, as I had a popular date.) I was a little sad about it, but I hired a great photographer who really captured the day. I feel like I remember every second of it, too. Most of my friends who paid thousands for their videos said they have hardly watched them more than a couple of times, and they've all been married 10 years and longer, so that made me feel better going into it.

We put a digital video camera up in the balcony at our venue during the reception and it was in the back of the venue during the ceremony and we haven't even watched it yet in six months. Now that I'm out of the planning madness (where I sometimes was like OMG, I have to have this or my wedding will be terrible! Smile), I'm glad we didn't add another couple thousand to the cost of that day. It was perfect just as it was.

Personally I think photography and videography are really important elements for the day since they are one of few things that you actually get to keep... you can't drag out the flowers or food (and it would be a little weird to put your wedding dress on) to show your grandkids but it'll be great to play the video for them. I vote yes for videography, at least get the raw footage and if you're feeling up to it, edit it yourself.

Robyn..... My fiance didn't want the video either but i pushed the issue. I wanted to watch us walking down the aisle and thought it would be fun to one day share with our children. We got our videographer through our dj. Our photographer and florist also offered someone to us. Who are you using? They should be able to give you great recomendations and discount contacts. Contact me and we can trade info. LOL

    Hello there Robin,
I would say go ahead and get the video ... I am a retired videographer and have done countless video weddings over the years ... don't do them anymore (as I said I am now retired) ... in any event if price of a video wedding is out of the question, here is a idea ... I wrote an article that tells you how to get your wedding video recorded for free or for very little money ... I took what I have learned over the years and wrote an article ... the article nortally sells on the net for $14.97,  but since you posted here, you can have it for FREE ... just go to this site and it will tell you how to get it for nothing: http://videorecordyourwedding.weebly.com    ... if you have any trouble,

contact me:  jskone@gmail.com   and I will get it sorted out .... thanks,

    My Best,
    John Kone
