Venues that don't charge rental fees?

Hi ladies. We're starting to look at venues for our wedding in the Northern VA/DC area, and we're running into some pretty steep pricing. I know this is just a product of where we live, but specifically... every place is charging a rental fee JUST to have the reception/ceremony there, and that dosen't include food or alcohol. Just wondering, do you all know of any places that don't charge the rental fee, but just food/alcohol, and are moderately priced? But still nice? That might be a lot to ask :)

    You might check out restaurants.  If your wedding is large enough, you can take over the whole restaurant.  For a smaller wedding, you could have it in the private dining room of a restaurant.  In either event, you are typically charged only for the food/drink.

    One of the few venues that I found that doesn't charge a fee is Madigan's on the Waterfront. If you're looking to rent a whole restaurant, they usually charge a hefty fee, however restaurants that have private rooms could work.

    Check out Maggiano's. It's a restaurant and there is one in both DC & VA.
