Bring your FI to do the registry?

Did any of you bring your FI to do the registry?  I was going to but he is like a 3 year old haha. So I just went with my MOH.    Ultimately he could care less what is on there anyhow. I might bring him for the Macy's one just to have him see the sheets and towels.

I did a walk through the stores and ended up doing most of my registry online. I also used Macy's and my second was pampered chef so everything was on the computer.

We went to both Macy's and Bed, Bath and Beyond together. He only asked one thing... He used the gun! So I did the checklist and he got to scan everything. After a while of me second guessing things, he was tired and was done with it.. But we did to it together... it was fun!!

I should add that I never take him shopping, not even the grocery store haha.  I really am better off alone. I can have him look it over online if he wants.

Yeah, I don't think he will miss it for anything.  He likes house stuff, although we have different tastes so it should be interesting.

We did ours together, but I went online multiple times to update it myself. haha

Did anyone have a bad experience? Did your FI  really like doing it??
  • edited December 2011
FI enjoyed it. He liked putting things together and using the scanner gun. I'm the one that had the meltdown.

    HAHA Cara.

I am glad I am not the only one that went alone or with a friend or mom.

I went with DH and my mom.. He wanted a say in our cooking/kitchen stuff since he's our cook.  I let him do all that stuff and my mom and I did bedding.  Although ironically DH felt strongly about one bedding set that we ended up getting, so I guess he had more say than I thought he would LOL.  My mom kept asking if I was sure he wasn't gay (she was kidding) because he has such good taste (he does, better than me sometimes actually).

Here's what Poof did. I saw the email from TK about the sip & Scan. I was like shnaps...free booze and food and I get to use the gun...LET'S GO!!!!

So maybe that'll help you with enticing FI to come. Mention food and booze.

I actually want to go to a C&B sip and scan!  I don't care if FI comes or not. He is really the most unpleasant person to shop with.  I regret it every time I tried. :)  I am glad you went with your FI  I think if we went to register at Best Buy or Game Stop he would be down haha.

It really wasn't that bad. She had to stop me a couple times because I would scan crap that was outrageously priced. My response was "Man I live the glamorous life, it's Calphalon or bust" haha. Needless to say, we actually got some nice stuff from the registry. Couple are useless lol, but for the most part we got some good stuffs.

On a side note.....anybody need any glasses lol

DH basically did the registry. I hate shopping with him because he s such a girl. Even clothes shopping. He's a chef so he does all our food shopping.
He LOVED it. The lady helping us was cracking up because I was trying to hurry him along but he spent like a half hour just looking at knifes in BB&B. He would have been upset if he didn't go.

On a side know, I took DH to BB&B for the first time after we got engaged. It became his favorite store.

FI actually looked into whether there was a Best Buy registry... he was sadly disappointed.  However, we did make an Amazon registry for some random things (like the matchign coffeepot to the china).  FI then decided to put on some movies and video games.  I felt bad that he had no interest in anything else, so I let him keep them on there.  Little does he know that everyone is getting him games and movies off the registry for his 30th birthday.

DH came with me to register.  It was fun!  We also kept each other for getting stuff we did not need.

The funniest part was the saleswoman at BBB trying to help us by giving us her opinion that we should replace EVERYTHING we already have and get doubles of stuff we want so that it will last.  DH and the saleswoman went toe to toe and she even turned to me and said, "Do you realize who you are marrying?"  We were not too fond of her!

We went together and had a blast.  He loved the gun and really got into it.  Went for drinks after :)

I do all of the cooking and FI never shops for clothes. So I guess in my case I really am better off doing the registry alone. Unless he gives a crap closer to the wedding ha.

I am a little late on this, but FI came to all 3 with me. Though I should say we shop together all the time. He had fun...and insisted on holding the scanner gun.
There were times when I think he didn't totally "get" the whole registry thing, but he did really well, including the day we did 2 stores, which turned into a tiring marathon for both of us.

B2B--if your FI isn't a shopper, I'd say you could probably go without him...just ask if there's anything in particular he wants on there. My FI put a few things on there he really wanted, and I never would have thought of.

    Good Luck!!

My FI never has an opinion on anything. It is really annoying at times.  I won't feel bad going to the next registry place :)

FI isn't a shopper either.  He did like choosing things on his own though.  I'm not saying anyone in their right mind would buy those things lol but it was something we had fun doing together (except for the towels, we did fight at that point).  Other than the towels, they were good days :)

Ok I'm really late BUT we went together and he actually let me use the gun for a while in one place. We did the basics and then I just updated and made any changes online but he wanted to be involved with that too.  I plan to remind him when it comes to making dinner that if he picked it he has to use it too!!
