Vendor choice??

My FI and I have been looking around online for caterers and we really like the looks of three different companies so far- Black Tie, Churchill Catering and The Blue Elephant. We have meetings scheduled with all three next week but I wondered if you ladies had any insider information on what these companies have to offer!

I'm using Black Tie and they have been wonderful!! We haven't had to do too much but they are on top of everything, calling me quite a bit to make sure I don't need anything.  They have been so helpful! And I've only heard great things about their food & service!

btietjen thanks for responding which venue are you using?
jpickering8 thats great to hear! Where is you reception going to be if you don't mind me asking? I'm so afraid we are going to overlook the perfect location!

Do you ladies know anything about the other two companies?

I don't know anything about the others.  I'm having mine at Harbor View at Jones Landing on Peaks Island.  It's beautiful!!  Ceremony will be on site then everything will be on the covered deck overlooking Casco Bay in the evening!! Good luck with everything!

We had a meeting with The Blue Elephant yesterday and I must say that I am very impressed. I really liked everything they had to say- very upbeat and tons of good ideas. I really felt like they were listening to me and what I want for my wedding day. I'm waiting for a proposal from them and they are also going to give me a list of venue ideas. I left with a very good feeling.

Tomorrow we have a meeting with Churchill. I'll let you know how it goes.

we are also using black tie caterers i love what they offer, and seemed to be perfect for us. i also had met with church hill at our venue but i didnt feel they were right for what i wanted. very nice people though. im not sure what your looking for in a venue or what date you are planning for but i wanted something differeent and a place i could do whatever i wanted and continue the party later then 11 if i wanted. i rented ski esta ( a rental properety on sunday river in  newry,me) consider a rental house, the site to ski esta is www.skiesta.us if you want to check it out. i found it on www.homeaway.com while looking for a vacation house for our summer vaca laast year and knew i wanted to get married here

Wow! It's been a busy week We had our meetings with Churchill and Black Tie at the end of last week... We were both impressed with how they presented themselves to us, however I'm not positive that they understood what exactly it is we are looking for. I think after I receive everyone's proposal I will have a better idea of what direction we will go in.

Amanda-Thanks for the tip I will definitely check that out! We are having an outdoor wedding and we want it to be a little bit different and fun- we've been to a lot of weddings and they are all the same so we want to be a little different. I'm not completely sold on a venue yet so I will definitely check out the ski esta. Thanks!

I am also looking at using Ski Esta as my venue and highly recommend it! It is absolutely gorgeous and the perfect place if you really want the freedom to plan as you want.

I am renting the Ski Esta too (sooo excited!) and we are using The Good Food Store who is a local caterer in Bethel.  They are not your "traditional" caterer, but their food is incredible!  We have really high standards when it comes to food and they exceeded them.  We had them cook us a meal so we could taste their food, and I was blown away.  It was about as far from banquet food as you could get, which is exactly what we wanted.  They are also VERY reasonable and know Ski Esta like the back of their hand (even advised me on a sunlight concern I had).  So if you do decide to go that route, give The Good Food Store a call.  I think you get a lot for the money.
