Night before get together?

Are any of you planning a night before get together for OOT guests (or perhaps also special local guests as well) before you and your FI part ways (if you're spending the night apart.)

Our rehearsal dinner will be on Wednesday and we're planning on doing our Bach parties the Thursday before.  The Friday night before we're looking at doing some sort of function and I wanted to see if anyone else was doing the same.

Re: Night before get together?

  • We are planning to do a rehearsal dinner. It will likely only include those involved in the wedding, although there may be a few extended family members who are invited as well. The plan is to keep it pretty casual like grilling at a local park or something similar.
  • We don't have too many OOT guests coming besides college friends mostly and since we will be doing the rehearsal dinner the night before I don't think anything else will really be planned. And most of our college friends who do come out of town will most likely only stay the night of the wedding. So, I am no help there.
  • We aren't doing a "before" party but are definitely doing an "after" party!!! We are getting married on a lake and are having a huge bonfire after our wedding reception for guests who are staying overnight in the cabins provided by the lake. It should be really fun and I'm super excited to party it up even longer! :)
  • We're doing the rehearsal dinner the night before and don't really have OOT guest, just my brother and my cousin. So I'm really no help, sorry!

  • I am doing my rehearsel (I think) on teh Thursday before, and we have OOT guests. I realize, not all of them will be able to make it to the rehearsel- but it workedout better for us to do it then.

On friday, instead of having the rehearsel dinner- we are planning on doing a day trip for a few hrs with our relatives from OOT( and anyone that wants to go)
then we are having a dinner with just our immediate families together- but are inviting anyone that wants ot join us for a drink after if they want. We just don't want to be responsible for paying for the dinners that night. Since we are already paying for the rehearsel dinner, the wedding and the day after brunch,

  • My family is italian, so we've been joking that our wedding is going to be a weeklong party!
we do have a fair amount of OOT guests, but they'll be coming in wed-fri and staying with other family members.  We'll have a formal rehearsal dinner, but aside from that, we aren't planning anything.  I'm sure we'll end up at cousins and grandparents houses that whole week/weekend for dinners and such anyway!
The actual night before will be nothing but relaxation with maybe my bridal party girls.  I want a little time to myself to gear up for the big event!

My advice would be for you and FI to NOT plan anything formal.  You guys will have so much to think about with the actual wedding.  Let your surrounding family plan and execute any dinners or day trips or what not.  You can just attend if you're available. =)

  • My entire side of the family, besides my parents is OOT so we plan on doing the rehearsal the night before and then having a big bonfire get together the night before our wedding for anyone to come and mingle and just relax. :)
