March 2012 Weddings

Guest Books?

What are you all doing for Guest Books?  I have some ideas but I cannot seem to narrow it down to what I want that is going to be reasonably priced.  I want to stay away from the traditional "book" and do something I can frame! Thoughts?

  • Oh and post pics if you have ideas for me!

  • I bought the picture frame from Michaels and has a lot of white space for guests to sign and leave small messages. I got two of these and I will be laying them out on a table the same as I would a guest book. After the wedding I'll put two wedding pictures in there and hang them up.

  • I know you said you wanted to stay away from the traditional books, but we are doing a Photobook- which although it isn't frameable...you might think it is neat. We created it using Shutterfly and used our engagement and different pictures around the edges, and put fun quotes instead of just having blank pages to sign. We also ask questions/for advice/suggestions.
Example: Share a tale of the bride and groom, date night ideas, favorite name for girls/boys, best places to travel, besides the bride and groom-who were you excited to see today, great way to apologize, favorite meals, etc...

This is what I was thinking of doing and using one of our engagement photos.  How much was the frame from Michaels?

  • Our guest book is included in our photography package so we will get a coffee table book of photos for guests to sign.

  • We are doing a book of our engagement pictures and having our guests sign around the pictures.

  • Since we are only having a handful of guests we aren't doing a normal guest book.  Instead, I made a poster (free through VistaPrint) that has our names, the ship name, and the sail dates.  We're going to hang it on our door with a pen attached and have people sign it as they walk past our room.  Sure, it'll be a bunch of strangers writing on it for the most part, but I'm excited to see what people write.  ANd if someone wants to be stupid and write some insult on there or something... oh well!  It was free.  :)

I believe in a lot of things. I believe in fresh tennis balls, the healing power of bunnies, and that the novels of Susan Sontag are something I'll never read. In fact, I don't even know who Susan Sontag is. What is she... like... a painter? I believe in Crystal Lite because I believe in ME. I believe in the movies of Val Kilmer, though these days it ain't so easy. I believe in Darren Sproles, the word "dabble", the first season of "Silk Stockings", and big, warm, moist, gooey chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth and all over your face.

  • We're probably going to have a photo booth so we'll ask people to paste their photos into a scrap book and sign next to it.

  • We got postcards from places that mean something to us as a couple and we'll have people sign different ones as our "guestbook" then we'll bind then afterwards.
  • We are doing the picture frame. Right now we have one of out engagment pictures in it and when we get our wedding pictures we will put one of them in there.

  • We're doing a guestbook 'tree.' I'm not sure yet if we'll do one where each person leaves and signs a fingerprint:

    Or where they just sign:

I did this x1... Not a whole lot of space to write but I'm just going to put up a sign and ask people to give us a piece of advice... hopefully if someone doesn't have advice they'll just put their names haha.  $16 for the frame @ Michael's

  • We are doing a well wishes table. There will be two large jars. One will be filled with pink kisses (buying these during the Valentine's Day candy sale!) and it will say take a kiss. The other will be empty for the cards and it will say make a wish.

There will be little cards for guests to write on. I currently have the business cards from Vista Print that say "Well wishes for the new Mr. and Mrs." However, I don't necessarily love them, so I may jusy be purchasing small cards from cards and pockets of various shades of pink and I'll decorate them with stamps or something. Either way, we'll leave them on the table with a set of directions. Guests take a kiss from one jar and make a wish for the other jar.

My plan is to take all the cards along with the photo strips from our photobooth and make a scrapbook.

Here are a few pictures that may better explain:
