My cousin is getting married in April and I'm getting married in May. My cousin's invite arrived about a week ago and ours hit mail boxes today. My mom only saw an online proof because we live in different cities and I had to order them quickly because my original DYI invitations had major issues.

Anyway, my mom and I aren't super close, but I expected/ hoped she would at least be supportive through the wedding. She told me the invites were nice and went on to describe why my cousin's were much better.

My grandma and I have always been super close and my moms always had an issue with our relationship. I know she probably bashed the invites because she thinks my grandma helped me pick them, which wasn't the case, and I know this is my mom's usual MO, but I'm super upset.

    Totally understand! FI and I worked CRAZY hard on our invites, and my mom didn't even mention getting hers :/

    I am so sorry to hear that! :(  I have similar issues with my mom.  She told my daughter that she probably isn't going to come to my wedding because she "won't know anyone, won't have anything to do, and what's the point of going anyway...".  Yeah, thanks mom.  And she couldn't even call to tell me this personally, she used my daughter to relay the possible decline.  I have yet to see a response card from her so, I am counting her as a big, fat NO!  I know in the long run, this will be much better than if she actually came because she would just stress me out but, her lack of attendance still hurts my heart.  
    I am sure your invites are beautiful and everyone will be so happy to see them! :)

    Im sorry your mom was a little mean about them. I say if you like them, ____ it! :)

    I am having issues with a relative, wont name titles, who does the same bashing over help Ive recieved from other bridesmaids whether it be shower details, other plans or projects. I know its because she is jealous I didnt have her do it, or ask her opinion but she is always magically unavailable....

    I know, easier said then done, but just try and brush it off.

    Awe I am so sorry your mom said that! For some reason us brides want to hear that our stuff is better than other brides :) and we would hope that our mom's would think that as well.

    So sorry to hear that. I had similar issues but with my FMIL. Arrgh so frustrating. But hey, at the end of the day and it's your wedding. I know it's hard but try to take a deap breath and say F it!

    Sorry to hear that about your mom. Don't let her ruin your wedding experience. Just remember all those around you that love you and have told you how great your invites are! Focus on the positive, it's hard sometimes but I hope it gets better.

    My FMIL is like this. FBIL's stuff was always better yet for me it was boring and plain. She actually forgot my shower was this weekend. It's annoying! Sorry your mom is being a pain!

    I didn't even send my mom an actual invitation :) She helped me put them all together, so I just handed her one so she could have it for keepsake purposes. I definitely understand where you're coming from though. It feels good to have support & know that people like the things we've worked so hard it. It stinks when at least SOMEONE doesn't notice the things that we think are so great. Don't let it bother you, in the end, it's just a piece of paper that will get thrown away by 99% of your guests & as long as you like them that's all that matters!
