venue with a Dallas/Texas feel?

Hello,

I just got engaged the end of December and am planning a Dallas wedding sometime July/august. I grew up in Dallas but have been living in Ohio the past 4 years, so it's hard for me to go and look at places. I have to send my mom but I don't want her to run all over town if it's not worth it.

Our total budget is 15k for 100-125 people. Our wedding will be on a Sunday since it will be a Jewish ceremony and that's easier to have on Sunday's. I would like an indoor place for both the ceremony and reception, preferably with some kind of Texas or Dallas feel. However, not too overdone like a barn or anything like that. It can be in Dallas or Dallas suburbs but preferably not ft. Worth areas.

I've looked at many websites and the sticky on here but I would just like some actual feedback and opions as well.

    I'm not sure what Dallas/Texas feel means to you. There are a few places with a view of the skyline. There are rustic venues that aren't barns. What places have you looked at that you liked?

    Well I haven't been able to look at any in person cause I'm not in town right now. I really liked the hall of state for the big Texas seal and all, but then the proposal came back way out of budget. It would have been the whole budget and I would still need flowers, attire, dj, photographer, cake, etc. So I was kinda bummed about that. My fiancé will not go for rustic, so it'd have to be something that either has views of the skyline, is historic but no rustic feel, or something that is Texas but still formal, such as how the hall of state just had the big seal. It's seeming hard to find, at least from far away anyway.

    You might try Lantana Lodge in Pilot Point.  They have a few options for ceremony/reception, some of them more elegant, all the way to an actual barn that's been remodeled to look really nice on the inside.

    Are you willing to share your budget?  It doesn't do us any good to make a bunch of recommendations if they're all too expensive.

    I meant what websites or venues on our sticky did you like? One of our Knotties got married at the Magnolia downtown which is famous for its iconic red horse. That would be nice for a brunch reception--is that what you are planning? I personally love the Old Red Courthouse downtown. Cityplace has views of the skyline. I got married in a historic hotel, the Melrose, although the Adolphus is probably more "old Dallas" (but probably way out of budget.) Union Station is another historic venue (again would probably have to be brunch/lunch and still may be out of budget). You can get married at Southfork--doesn't get more Dallas than that! http://www.southforkranch.com/events/

    </div><div>I had my reception at Cityplace, but if your entire budget is $15K, you might not be able to do that.  They have one space with a $7500 f/b minimum (as of 2011 when I got married -- they've changed management since then), but I'm pretty sure both the rooms on the 42nd floor with the awesome views are $10K minimum for f/b.</div>

    Yeah most of the venues I have suggested are probably pushing the budget, but since you want a Sunday wedding, it's at least worth inquiring.

    That's true.  I have no idea what Cityplace charges for Sundays.  We had originally looked at doing our wedding on a Friday, but I don't remember if there was a difference in price.

    Yeah I'd rather not be pushing my budget too much with just venue and food. Although I will be getting a deal on flowers since a family friend is a florist, but idk what exactly that will be yet. I Like the old red courthouse but my best friend got married there already and I don't really want to do the same kind of thing. Although it was nice and it would fit in my budget... I looked at Orion ballroom. Their prices are lower on Sunday's and the overall value is good. I don't mind that it's in oak cliff, so I guess that'll be an option. I'll look into some of the other places mentioned about Sunday pricing. I didn't see any prices online for magnolia or city place so I'll have to contact them and see what's the deal for Sunday's. Thanks for the help, let me know if you think of any other places.

    We have had a few people look at Orion and rule it out but it's pretty. Wouldn't hurt to check it out for sure.

    There is also a brand new venue (not even open yet) in the Colony called Chapel at Ana Villa... it's gorgeous.
