GOWN TROUBLE!!

Okay ladies so I now have a very big concern, I went to try on my dress at David's Bridal for alterations.   I tried it on and it turns outs that the dress they ordered was a size 6 and she told me I was a size 6; however, it barely zipped so now I have a concern on how to loose weight on my chest area :( I need it this dress to be as comfortable as possible.  What exercises do you recommend to loose weight on my upper back? I don't want to go down a cup size I guess just to loose the fat I have on my back hahahaha so please please my wedding is in August and I need alterations ASAP.  I'm working out doing cardio but I don't know if that will help.

Re: GOWN TROUBLE!!

  • Maybe they can just take the dress out a bit.
  • Try not to stress on it. Stress won't help weight lose at all.
You could try the 30 day Shread from Jillian Michaels. It's like 8 bucks from Walmart and it'll do wonders!

Or another option could be to put in a corset back? Would something like that work for your dress?

    Best wishes!

<div>Owww...good Idea with the corset back, I know that DB can put it in if there isn't too much beading on the back.  </div>
  • #1 - most dresses can be sized up or down 2 sizes without major alterations.

#2 - Find a seamstress in your area (check your local - I strongly recommend against using DB for alterations.)  Make an appointment for your first fitting now (she can adjust the length, add a bustle, etc) and then have the chest area altered closer to the wedding date.

#3 - be careful trying to do exercises targeting your chest area.  You could drop fat, but gain muscle, which will still not "make" the dress fit correctly.
Holy Crap. We survived the first year!

  • You can't lose weight in just one region, unfortunately.  I'm with pp's, try just doing a corset back.  I made my sister get one, when she chose a wedding dress in very early pregnancy.  Thanks god she did.

<div>It is a store by store type thing, the one by me has an amazing seamstress.  Maybe you can check reviews of their seamstress before trying to find some place else.  </div>
  • This happened with one of my bridesmaids dresses that we purchased from DB. The first time we had her try it on, we couldn't get it zipped up at all! What happens, we believe, is that the dresses you try on in the store are tried on by tons of people, so they are stretched out, but the dress you order and receive has never been worn by anyone, so the fabric hasn't been stretched. Once we did manage to get it zipped up on her [about a week after we first tried to make it fit], they suggested that we just have her try it on once a week or so, to get the fabric stretched to a comfortable fit. It worked, too. Every time she tries it on it fits a bit better.

Weird, but it worked for us.

  • Try a minimizing bra.
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one - I will just try to cut down fatty foods (which I'm already doing anyway) and see how it works, I will go to an alterations place and see what they can do about it... is like less than an inch for the gown to hook, it closes but it doesn't hook - so I hope it works out for me, thank you Ladies!
