The Pros? Anyone used or can recco a good photographer?

Going to the Pros showcase later this week and was curious if anyone had an experience with them?  We are getting married at the Hotel Monaco in DC.  Also curious what price you paid and what you got for it?

i've read mixed reviews about the pros. they got my number on their call list and literally blew up my phone at least once a week until they finally got a hold of me and i told them i already had a photographer and dj in mind.

it's nice that they're full service but after reading their reviews, i was a little wary. they did have more good reviews than bad so if you do decide to go with them, i hope they'll be great for you!

Their pricing sounded too good to be true so I looked them up on wedding wire. They had some good reviews as well as negative ones. Most of the reviews mentioned that the quality of the pictures was really bad and others said that they switched their dj/photographer on them at the last minute. take a look at wedding wire if you haven't already done so.
The package deal they quoted me was $1995 for dj/video/photographer.

I'm using this awesome chick called Lydia Jane.  She's a student at UMBC, but that just means you can get her awesome skills for a good price.  In a couple of year's she's going to be charging $3,000 minimum.

    Here's her website: www.lydiajane.com

    This was her 2010 pricing:

    Package 1: $1,500
6 hours of wedding day coverage
    DVD of wedding photos

    Package 2: $2,000
    Full day wedding coverage
    (With an assistant photographer)
    DVD of wedding photos

    Package 3: $2,500
    Full day wedding coverage
    (With an assistant photographer)
    DVD of wedding photos
    Online Hosting & Wedding album

I've heard nothing but good things about her from people that I know who had her do their wedding, and I have fallen in love with the the look that she captures, and the classic, vintage feel of her photos.

I also orginally looked at the pros and everyone I spoke with sd the photos came out horrible and they were very overpriced in the end.  I love my photographer, Steve Beltz Photography.  A friend recommended him and he was worked out great.

I went to a Pros show and was very underwhelmed. The pictures they brought to show were awful, one of the photographers couldn't even bring up his photos on his own computer. The DJ's were ok but their sound system was terrible it was echoing and reverbing in the carpeted room (which usually means they can't work their board correctly) and there was only one videographer there but the sample video they sent me in the mail was lame.
I would definitely make sure you take a look at the work they've done in the past before using them.

We got married 1 year ago and we hired Carmen Wang Photogrpahy.  The best bargain ever!  The photos are so so great and they offered a lot MORE than we expected.  We paid about $1200 for 6 hour wedding and they arrived one hour eariler to  get more shots for us.  Can not be happier!

    Their website is carmenwangphotography.com.

The photos from Carmen Wang Photography look awesome, Niki!

A lot of photographers in the brides showcase are really bad!  When you go there, please make sure:

    1.  You look at at least 3 complete wedding photos (at least 120 per wedding).

    2.  Get the total price!!!  Make sure you have high resolution photos and right to prints.  Half photographers only give you low-reso photos that are useless.  Their price is very low but you need to spend a LOT more buying prints from them for the remainder of your life.

    3.  Check their photos in low-light!  The posed romantic photos on their stand are quite deceptive.  Most ceremonies and receptions take place in very dark place.  The photos under these circumstances really differ a professional one from an amateur!

    Good luck!

Thanks everyone! When we got there it was obvious this was exactly what I was NOT looking for!!! I just booked Cassidy DuHon for photograhy, looking at blueskyfilms for videography and still out for a DJ!
