Family Members who were not invited are now throwing fits....publicly via Facebook.

So do you ladies want to be entertained by a story? I seriously was so annoyed!

So this woman is not invited to my wedding and is very distantly related, we are talking somehow through a great-great-grandma. We are having a decent sized wedding, about 130 were invited but we are on a tight budget.

So I woke up Monday morning and saw this lady wrote on my Mom's Facebook wall. Here is what she wrote:

"Hi Machelle,

So I have been seeing things all over facebook about Patty's wedding and I was wondering is the family invited? Did you send invites already? Did you forget about me? lol"

Okay, that is literally word for word what she wrote. By "seeing things all over facebook" she means some pictures from my Bridal Shower and some posts from my little sister on my wall. What the heck is her problem? So I responded to her post because my Mom really did not control the guest list, she asked for a few people to be included but that's it. I wrote:

"We are having a small wedding and are on a tight budget so unfourtinately only immediate family and friends could be invited."

Her response was: "How immediate?"

My response (after having a coronary!!): "I will send you a private message."

So in my private message I said: "Hi, I am going to be very frank with you because I feel that you are being very rude. We are paying for our wedding mostly by ourselves so we had to keep it small. We both have large families so we were only able to invite immediate family and close friends, people who we see on a regular bases. We did not intend to hurt your feelings so I am sorry if that has happend. Please respect our decision." I went on a little bit more but that's the gist of it.

Her response: "I am sorry if you thought I was being rude, that was not my intent. I was trying to make light of the situation. I would have liked if you had sent me a card with your new address listing the reasons why I was not invited and then I could have sent you some money to show my love and support. I do not need to be invited to a wedding to be a part of it."

Let's just say I did NOT respond to her message because sending her a card saying why she was not invited is absoultely ridiculous! No one does that! I have not seen her in at least 5 years.

After stressing about this for a little bit I just had to laugh it off. How ignorant and ridiculous!

Sorry, I laughed a little about the sending the card with reasons why she wasn't invited part. That is pretty ridiculous. Sorry you had to go through that...the nerve of some people.

Some people are so selfish! I had a similar experience with an old friend...she was complaining to her mother (who is my mothers best friend) about not being invited. I emailed her to explain that we are paying for the wedding ourselves and had to keep it to close family and friends, never intended to hurt her but we havent talked or really seen eachother in 10 years. She responded "you'r email hurt worse than not being invited". I was so upset because I was being genuine and sincere and she turned it around to make me feel bad. I dont understand some people. We just have to let it go and move on and remember this day is about us-no one else. Try not to let it get to you

Thanks ladies! I am not stressing about it at all anymore. I figure she will get over it eventually and if not we hardly ever see each other so oh well! She did delete her post on my Mom's wall so at least she must have realized how unreasonable she was being.

Oh well! I am just getting so excited with only 17 days to go!

Had an old classmate of the fiance email him to ask if she could come to the wedding...said she wouldnt eat dinner and would bring her own alcohol and drink in the parking lot...who does these things!

Wow, really? I feel bad for her, but she should have pm'd you from the get go, expressed her congratulations and left it at that. I am sure you would have explained to her yourself why she was not invited and if she really wanted to send a gift, she would. I think she was trying to pour sugar on a fire she started with the bull of a "send me card telling me why" story.
