So I've been reading everyone's posts about guests cancelling on them after they've given their headcount, etc. and smug me kept thinking, our RSVP date was 3 weeks ago and we're a week away from the wedding, no one's going to cancel on us! WRONG!!

I got an email last night from our landlord (we're her only tenant so we're close) saying that oh, it turns out her husband can't make it! We've already submitted our final head count and I JUST finalized and printed our escort cards!! GRRR!!!

I'm tempted to tell her that since we've already paid for her husband's dinner that we'll just deduct it from the next rent check :)

    Ugh! And she just know now, that her husband cant make it? How can people be so inconsiderate? Dont they know, we already paid for them? We are giving our final count tomorrow - so we'll see how many people will either not show up at the reception or cancel the last minute after we pay for them...

    I had the same thing happen to me! Thankfully I haven't given our venue the final count yet, but we will be tomorrow so I'm hoping no one else cancels last minute. 
    I know people have their own lives and things come up, but I think they just don't understand how inconvenient it is for us when it's so last-minute.

    Mona - I would seriously consider asking your venue how late you could add one or two names and giving them a head count that's short a few people. I really wish we had done this so now we're not paying for someone who's not there!

    We'll see how this strategy turns out, but I submitted a final count about 8 guests less than the real count.  I knew I would get random cancellations like that and we had a ton of people RSVP "yes, if..." So I counted wishy washies as a NO

    I had the pposite happen to me.. after I submitted my headcount to the venue and chair cover vendor, a couple told FI that they would be coming now... GRR!!

    I have to submit my final on Monday and I'm at 93 right now. My mom wanted to do 95 and tell them today that we were good at 95. I'm thinking, "Noooo, if anything, it'll go down!"

    Because I thought I was immune too, but my own family is now changing their rsvps.

    I had people cancel and some people extra show up, so it worked out in the end. Try not to get too upset over it-the rest of your guests will have fun! now that I've went through it I will NEVER do that to a bride and groom-it is very frustrating. (I've been guilty of it once. eek)

    the frustrating part for me is that the guests who are doing it are all married! they have been through it!
