So we were having a friend get a special one-day license from MA to marry us. We told him about this a year ago.
He called today while we were driving to the town clerks office to get our marriage license...his brother-in-law is getting married in NY on August 12th as well and he can't officiate the wedding for us.
The BIL literally decided this past week that he was getting married on the 12th...arranged marriage, long story. Our friend pleaded with him about changing the date, told him several times that he had a prior commitment, but NO he wants to get married on the 12th. So no officiant.
Luckily our friend is a planner and found someone who is already ordained who we know that can fill in for him so we don't have to frantically search for an officiant a month before the wedding.
I'm disappointed but since going bridzilla on the situation won't change anything, I'm just going to roll with it.
