Personal Trainer?

Ok... I've hit a wall.  I decided I need a personal trainer, but I'm stuck on where to look for one.  I've done a consultation with one at Urban Active, but 30$ just seems like a lot of money for one session a week.  I'm stuck!  Is that the norm, or do you think if I keep digging I can find a better deal?

Unfortunately I think it's a norm, but maybe you can play the trainers off of each other say another trainer offered you a slightly lower rate and see if they budge also try not so popular gyms....there was a place out in Kettering but I forgot the name of it let me look it up and I'll put it on here

I ended up just signing on at Urban Active for their trainer and it was definitely worth it for me. I had never really worked out before so it helped me learn what to do and what not to do and also helped with nutrition. I was kind of unhappy though because the way they sold it to me, I could go month to month and cancel at any time. Well, I lost my job and so I tried to cancel and they were going to charge me $200 to do so.

Aside from that I really like my trainer and he has helped me get the results that I wanted and has kept me motivated.

If  you sign up for Groupon and Living Social emails, you'll get deals once every few weeks for gyms/work out classes at a discounted rate. Sometimes, personal trainer deals pop up too. You may be able to find something that works for you!

Snap Fitness usually offers a decent package for new members.  I go to the one in Milford, but I think there are a couple others in the area.  Recently they ran a special of 8 sessions for $150.

The trainers at Planet Fitness are also pretty reasonable.

I go to Fitnext downtown and I love it- its personal training done in group sessions. You have your own workout just not someone standing overtop of you the ENTIRE time. Its worth a try- their trials are free to see if its for you. I will tell you I am pregnant and due in 5 weeks and have only gained 12 pounds and still work out with them. They are great.

If you don't want to do a personal trainer, I'd highly recommend Jillian Michaels DVDs. I've been doing the 30 Day Shred which has 3 levels so you can move up as you get stronger and have more endurance. These are great because it works on cardio & toning. While I haven't lost a ton of weight, I've dropped a dress size and a few inches. Once you get stronger, I'd also recommend "No More Trouble Zones". Plus, most of these videos are only 25-30 min so I really have a hard time finding an excuse NOT to do one.
